Hi all!!

Quick question about where to put my bib. I believe that you have to wear it on the front of your shirt, but what if you have more than one shirt on, thinking that you will take one off at some point. I am thinking of wearing a long sleeve over my short sleeve tech shirt and if I get too warm taking off the long sleeve. Or should I just skip the l/s and suck it up wearing only the s/s shirt? I am packing both, along with a whole variety of other gear, but was wondering about this.

Thanks friends and see you in a couple days!!

I personally wear mine on my shorts, I ran a race once where I got so hot o had to stop mid way to take off my shirt, I ended ip having to take all my bib and everything off and put it on my shorts, now I just do it all the time, just incase!

You will want it on front so that the photos will be easy to find. If you don't show your number, you will need to search about 20,000 random photos to find one of you. Also, when you go to the corral, they will want to see it and I saw people looking for bibs as you enter Epcot.

Many people wear the bib on the bottom layer especially if it's cold and clothes will be comming off as you run. As long as you have the bib somewhere, you will not have a problem except with the photos.

Another option is to get a race number belt. I guarantee you'll be able to find one at the Expo if needed. It basically is an elastic belt that has two clasps to hold your race number in place. Some of the belts even contain holders for gels, etc.

When you want to take off your LS shirt, just unclip the belt, remove the shirt and re-clip it around your SS shirt.

I also pin mine to my shorts... Never had a problem spotting me in pictures and makes multiple layering a no brainer for me...

Mine on my tights, if its just one bib.

I hate it when we have 3, tights, back of chair and helmet....just bib over kill to me.

I am a number belt wearer. Prior to that I was a hem of the shorts pinner. If you pin on the hem, leave enough slack to pull the elestic out - you will have need at some point to visit a necessary room.

If you want the shirt and you have multiple layers, pin it to the layer you know you will keep. Tuck that layer into you shorts or fanny pack belt. Then as you enter the baggage tent, race corral and see an ASI photographer you can simply pull up you layers. By tucking the I am going to keep this layer shirt in it will stay in place and you can easilt pull the other layers up.

NOTE for all who will be pulling tops off and tying around waist, you really should consider pinning to shirt. Look at the lost and found photos and you will see way too many photos from folks with a top tied around the waist and only a partil bib now showing!

I normally pin mine to my shirt because my outer layer is usually gone after a few miles. Unless it's really hot, in which case I pin it to my shorts because I'll end up needing to use that part of my shirt to wipe my face off during the race. If the start temperature is in the 40s, like I think the last forecast said, I'll be in short sleeves anyway - wearing a throw-away sweatshirt before the race and ditching it once we start.

If you wear a fanny pack(like I do), just pin it on the side. I just fold my bib so it just shows the number.

I also have my bib on the last "Layer" that way just lift up the other layers for getting into race areas, corrals and photos. I also found that if you have "throw away" clothes you cut make a small cut on the front near the neck line in the middle, that way you can just rip it down the middle and take off. Makes it easier to remove it and then you don't have to take off your hat/visor and sunglassses to pull the shirt over your head.
Can find cheat hoodie jackets at good will and that way you have a zipper and that makes it easier to get it off.
I agree with the tying it around your waste thing - if your bib is lower then it gets covered up.

Thanks everyone!! I will probably pin to my short sleeve and wear my long sleeve over, and "flash" my bib as needed. Though depending on the weather, I may only wear the short sleeve. The weather reports seem to be all over the place right now, so I may wait until Friday to decide. I may also look for the belt at the expo.

I actually remember trying to figure this out myself in 99. :confused3

Feel free to ask questions. That is the only way to learn - and frankly if someone asks it I know ther are at least 10 who were thinking about asking!

Yep, me! Thanks for asking this V!

I will be wearing a zip down cotton "jacket" (it's not as thick as a sweatshirt) that will be my toss layer. So I think I'll pin my bib to my short sleeve running top underneath that.

Never thought about the shorts thing. The bib doesn't become annoying hanging over the top of your legs?

I am another person that pins mine to my shorts. Most races I end up with no shirt on by the end (or even at the start) so pinning it to my skin would hurt. If you do layers you can go with the bottom layer but if you approach a photo spot before you have shed the top layers you will either not be in the photo database or you have to life the top layers all the way past the number.

I find that having it on the shorts makes it easier as even if it is covered a quick life of the layers to show the number on the shorts is easier than trying to expose the correct layer and lifting the remaining ones high enough to show the number.

I fold the top down and bottom up so the only thing showing is the number. It makes it much thinner vertically. I have to push the pins through self made holes but it isn't a big deal.

If on waist band you will never know....

If on leg, simply roll/fold the bib to fit.

okay since you prompted me and this is my thread to hijack, here are a few more questions:

How many "tickets" are sold for the Race Retreat? Just wondering how many folks will be there with us. I have seen some videos on YouTube and it doesn't look like too many people are there.

DH has to take FIL to airport on Sunday morning at 7:30 or so. We are staying at POFQ. How much difficulty is he going to have getting out with the full marathon going on at that time? Will the staff at the hotel be able to direct him around the road closures?

How long would you say it would take post race to get back to the resort? Are the busses really crowded? We are looking to finish in 2:20 (I have the number 2:19 stuck in my brain for some reason) and we are in the last corral most likely since we did not provide proof of time. Plus we are starting as a group, walkers and runners alike.

If I think of more questions I will ask, but I think thats it for now............

I finally bought a bib belt after a few years of racing. Took me long enough. Not sure why I didn't buy one earlier. It is similar to a Spi belt but different brand that I found at the Expo. At the time it was the only one with a stretch pouch and bib attachment thingys. Comes in handy for other runs when I might need to take my keys, or phone, etc.

Honestly, if you plan to do many races, just go ahead and invest in the belt, you'll be glad you did!

Prior to that I pined it to my shorts. But since I might end up wearing throw away sweats for the first few miles that wouldn't work.

enjoy,
Duane

I wear a belt with a water bottle, so it's pinned to that.

Retreat Qty? Don't have a clue. I am part of the rat pack and cannot get access to the country club.....I think it is limited so that you can set and stretch out a little.

Travel From POR - Exit out and head south on Bonnett to Buena Vista. The right and follow signs. NO delays from there - well maybe allow 5 minutes.

The trip back to the resort is a factor of two things. Filling the bus OR the next bus getting in que. From there to POR it is a 5-10 minute trip. Do yourself a favor and stretch before hitting the bus..... your legs will appreciate it and it may prevent you from climbing out of the bus backwards.

I've pinned it to my waist pack. I now have a number belt where I can easily adjust over the layers.
