If you purchase your points at a certain resort(bkv, okw, bwv etc) do yo have to always use your points at that resort. For example could you purchase a resale at Hilton Head and use your points at resorts or hotels in Disney World or do you have to use your points at Hilton Head. Any help anyone can provide me about DVC would be much appreciated. We are AP holders and go to Disney about every 2 months for weekend getaways usally staying offsite and we are considerig getting into DVC. Thanks in advance for any and all advice provided to me.

Points can be used at any DVC resort. However, the difference of where you actually purchase gives you an opportunity to reserve your room earlier.

For instance, if you purchase at HH, you may not book a room at another DVC resort until 7 months prior to your check-out date. Owners at that resort may begin reserving at 11 months out. Depending on what your specific travel habits are, it may or may not be a problem for you. But generally, a rule of thumb is to purchase at the resort you want to stay at most often. Certain resorts can be very difficult to get into at the 7 month window, this is especially true at BWV and BCV.

Don't be surprised if you find out that DVC isn't right for you. Weekend point costs for for rooms are often double those of the weekdays. My understanding is that this was done to keep people just like you (no offense) from monopolizing all of the weekend dates.

Many current DVC members choose to pay cash for their weekend stays to help make their points go further.

While you certainly should educate yourselves about DVC given the frequency with which you visit, if your stays are almost exclusively Friday and Saturday nights, it might not end up being the value that it is for folks who stay for an entire week (or at least Sunday to Thursday).

ITA. IMHO, this is especially true for those who have access to Florida resident discounts.

Best wishes -

Pluss, DVC is also better suited for those who can plan further out. Certain times of the year (Most surprisingly to many non DVCer's, early December) are very busy for DVC reservations. Being so close I'd imagine you might make last minute trips, for which a DVC membership may not be the best choice....there's cancellations issues < 30 days, etc. etc even if there is availability).
