I am thinking about renting points and I was wondering if I could rent points for the Beach Club Resort or does it have to be the villas? Can DVC members use their points at any of the resorts or only the specific DVC resorts?
In financial terms it doesn't make sense to rent points for WDW properties. If you were able to rent points at $10 each, you would still pay double points for Friday and Saturday nights. The number of points required is sometimes more than rack rate would be. Finally, points can only be used at hotels without DVC villas (so no Beach Club, but Yacht Club is ok). You would be better off buying one Annual Pass and looking for AP rates at the Beach Club.
You can learn more about ways to save money at www.mousesavers.com if you've not discovered that site yet.
I don't think I would ever think of using points for a non DVC resort, but what is the logic of not letting you use your points to stay at a room in the BC just because the is a DVC resort there. If your foolish enough to do it why would DVC care.

I agree I would never choose to do it but believe that is what I've read. Have no idea why it would be so....perhaps it has to do with agreements between DVC and whatever WDW unit controls the resorts?
