Question about bar packages

My fiance Rob and I are planning a Disneyworld wedding in January of 2009 with a rehearsal dinner at the California Grill, ceremony at the Whitehall Patio, and reception/sitdown dinner in the Whitehall room. We were searching for simplicity in terms of what we had to arrange and coordinate ourselves and we sure found it!! :wizard:

Our consultant Bill (who is AWESOME :yay: ) emailed us the bar packages and they seem too good to be true. Is the price quoted for a package bar (ie the Full Signature Brand package bar at 41$ per person for 3 hours) really inclusive of EVERYTHING: setup, bartender, and all the alcohol people choose to drink?

Thanks a bunch in advance!!!! :thanks:

According to my paperwork, that includes the price of the bartender as long as your beverage sales are over $500. That includes one bartender, if you would like another then there is a service fee of $100 per bartender.

Don't forget about the service charge and sales tax as well!

My paperwork says that too about the 500$ in sales. We are just having a hard time believing that it includes all the alcohol for the flat fee of say 41$ + service charge + sales tax. I'm concerned that the 41$/person is non-inclusive of the beverages and that we'll get a separate bill for what is actually consumed. Is it really just a flat fee per head regardless of how much or how little is consumed over the time period??

This is on our list of questions to ask our consultant but I was hoping to get an answer or opinions from other "consumers" who are going through the same process.

You must have replied at the same time I was writing my own reply.

Wow...that is (in my mind) a really good bar package for the price.

Thanks!

That really is the total price for everything. It includes all the alcohol, juices, sodas, mixers, etc listed in on package price sheet. We went this route and were only charged for the bottle of fairytale cuvee that DH and I drank (champagne isn't included in any of the packages).

Thanks...mmmm....the fairytale cuvee sounds delish!

Yes it would be flat fee per person for the drinks that are listed. To me that is a good price if you have people that you think are going to drink alot. For me, I think I am going to go with the billed on consumption because I have some heavy drinkers plus quite a few that don't drink at all.

One reason we went with the package bar is that I didn't want to worry all night about how much people were drinking and if the bar tab would be outrageous. Even though we had some non-drinkers I am sure that we would have paid much more if we had done BOC. (maybe that just says something about our friends and family:) )

Wow, you guys find Disney alcohol prices to be good? I find them to be kind of expensive. :confused3

I live in South Florida and most of the resorts that I checked out here in my wedding search included 4 or 5 hours of open bar (with a better choice of liquors and liquor brands--not that Dis doesn't have them, but they don't come standard as they did in other places), included the champagne toast and included wine service poured tableside throughout dinner--none of which Disney includes without adding various nickel and dime charges.

But oh well, it's something I'll have to take because Disney's definitely my top choice!

I think most of our guests (at least the ones in their 30s which are the majority) will drink a fair amount of liquor hence our going with the package. But yeah I'm not sure how many WON'T drink that much...hmmm.

That's my reasoning too: I would be so stressed all evening about how much people are drinking or if they are "abandoning" their drinks somewhere that billing on consumption would make me not enjoy myself.

Diva-

I agree: I wish there were tableside pour service at a decent price. Disney's charge is outrageous for that. Relative to most posh reception sites here in Minnesota, though, the Disney bar packages seem cheap.

I am so excited that the package is how we interpreted it!!!

Thanks!!!

While we're on the subject...:confused3

If we choose to go with the $41/person package, is that for those under 21 as well...Am I paying $41 for my 2 year old niece to drink 2 cokes and a cup of juice? We don't have many little ones, but I will have about 8 underage people at my VR.

Thanks!:wizard:

I think for the children they would have a soda and water package. That could still be expensive though.

We're going to miss Bill tons too! He has been so great and patient with our millions of preliminary questions.

Shez is right: there is a soda/water/juice only package which I believe is 16$ per person for 3 hours. I don't know if they knock down the price for kids though. My understanding is that you just have to tell your planner how many underage people will be attending and they alter the bar package prices accordingly.
