Question about banked points

We are looking at resale contracts and came upon one that looks great. The problem is that it has banked points that have to be used by 08/01/15 and we are not planning on our vacation until the end of August 2015. So does this mean you have to use the points for a reservation by 08/01 (like just book the reservation) or does this mean you actually have to travel by 08/01/15?

I have to admit, I have never really banked points, I am usually a borrower.

nights can only be booked up to 8/1/15 using those points. after 8/1/15, they no longer exist.
since that is a year away, i would suggest renting them (banked/borrowed points cannot be transferred, so transferring isn't an option).
if you need those points for your late august 2015 reservation, it woulld be best to keep looking.

Bummer - we don't really want to rent and really could have used those extra points. Oh well, we will keep looking!
