Question about banked points...

OK, so I have 155 points from 2007 that I banked into 2008 Oct UY. These points need to be used by Sept. 30, 2009, is this correct?
My next question is, when I go to make a reservation, the reservation is requiring 270 points (2 bedroom savannah view AKV). So I have 315 points in my account, 160 from 2008 UY, and the 155 points that I banked. Will MS use up all the banked points first, so that I will be able to bank the 45 points left over from my 2008 allotment? Does this question make sense? I am confusing myself. Hope someone can help. I am new to this and trying to figure it all out.

MS should use your banked points first, leaving you with your current year points to be banked. I always just state when I am on the phone with MS that I want my banked points used first and then make sure they tell you how many and what use year points you have left. MS is usually very good about it, but everyone makes mistakes, so it is best to confirm and ask for the MS name while you are on the phone.

I agree! Make sure that you're extremely specific with MS so that there is no confusion!

And there is nothing wrong with calling back a day or two later to speak to another CM at Member Services and re-verify.

I quintuple-checked something having to do with reservations involving developer points and later discovered that I had been told the wrong thing multiple times. I never could figure out if they were stupid, lying, or just making things up.

12 weeks to get my printed DVC reservation forms after several requests and assurances that they were coming struck me as a bit much.

There is no reason to call and verify if banked points have been used first. As others have said, be sure to ask them to do so when the reservatoin is made. Other than that, you can immediately check you account on the member website to make sure the banked points were used. Simply check the are showing how many points are available to bank. It should match.
