Question about Backstage Tours

I've done a backstage tour before, but booked while at WDW the day before the tour so I'm not sure about the general booking specifics. Basically, I have two questions: 1) how far in advance can you book and 2) do you always pay when making the reservation or can you pay at a later time?

Any help would be appreciated!!

I can't remember how far in advance you can book but I did recently booked a Segway tour for my DH at more than 90 days out.

I've also had to pay in full by credit card each time I've called to book a tour. The charges appeared on my cc statement rather quickly. Sorry I can't offer more help.

I booked my backstage tour through CRO four months in advance and like MrsToad stated, the charge appeared on my credit card in the next billing cycle.

I just booked a Keys to the Kingdom Tour today!...You can book a tour up to one year in advance, and you are charged the day that you book. If you use a Disney Visa, you get a 15% discount!::MickeyMo

I have always wanted to do one of these tours but was afraid. I can walk but not so very fast. If I get out of breath it is all she wrote for the day. Could someone tell me if any of the tours might be something I could do without being a burden on anyone else in the tour?

I have done nine tours, all great. Several discounts available. Pay when you make reservation. Here is good info.

Linda, all the tours have walking, though not at a frenzied pace. I would probably not do the all day Backstage (though a great one it is) as it is a long one. The train one probably has the least walking. Undiscovered Future World I would say has not too much either.

Dan, thank you for the info. I would trust any info from you but fear that my short legs would have to make 2 or 3 steps for each of yours. LOL

I am going to look into that. Always willing to learn something new. Another thought is that I am also hearing impaired. Do they have listening devices? Gosh, I am falling apart and I am only going to be 56 next week. Not sure I want to find out what old age has to offer. LOL

Not sure about the listening devices, Linda. I would ask Disney when you call them. know the WIld by Design had wireless radio/headsets for everybody so you could wander a bit from the tour guide CM.

We did the "Keys" tour on Wed. July 7th. We took the last tour (9:30 a.m.) At one point the 8:30 a.m. & our 9:00 a.m. tours met up to share a private jungle cruise ride. The other group of 12 had listening devices, but we did not. When asked , the tour guide "Anne" ( who was fantastic, by the way) told us that the listening devices are brand new. They only have enough for one group a day & the guides decide before going out who will use them. We were told that they may soon get enough for all tours.

My Mom did the Keys to the Kingdom tour using an ECV. I am sure that most of the walking tours would be able to accomodate either an ECV or wheelchair. Backstage Magic, the all day tour, probably would not as you are on and off a bus all day long and it is the coach style bus that they use for the cruise line and not one of the wheelchair accessible busses.
