Hi, I just became a member this year I bought during the F&F promotion. Well today I got a bill for my annual dues. I thought that I didn't have to pay them till the end of December 2006. Did I miss understand my guide? I thought They were giving last year points without any annual dues for that year. I'm so confused. Please help. :confused3 Thanks.

You sound just like I did a week ago! I didn't understand either. Our guide explained it to us and then it made sence. No matter what your use year is (ours is August) all dues need to be paid in January. Since we get our 2006 points August 1, 2006 we need to pay our dues for the 2006 points. We're not paying for the 2005 points but the ones that we are getting for this use year coming up (in our case August 2006 points). Next January we will be on the DVC's "regular" schedule and pay in January for our August 2007 points. Your points should be pro-rated for the date that you purchased so just make sure that is on your bill. (Ours was only a few weeks since we joined in January anyway, but heck every penny helps!) I hope this makes sence. :)

Dues go by calendar year. If you just bought, the bill you received is for calendar year 2006. (You didn't pay dues for calendar year 2005 even though you got points from that year).

Disney prorates dues for the first year. For example, if you bought on 4/1/2006, you would owe 9/12 of the annual dues for 2006.

You can pay dues monthly or in a lump sum.

Next year, if you are paying in a lump sum, the bill will come in January and need to be paid by mid-February or before your first stay in 2007, whichever comes first.

HTH.

Best wishes -
