Question about Animator's Palate

We missed our first night at AP because it was our first night of the cruise and we had late seating with two 3 year-olds who had gotten up at 5am that morning. Needless to say, we all went to bed early. I had heard about how AP changes from black & white to color throughout the dining experience. Is that only on everyone's first rotation at AP? We had dinner there two other nights and everything was in full color both times. I was disappointed!

yes - the color change as well as the "mini-show" put on by all the servers only occurs on the first night of each rotation within A/P
