I was just reading in the Unofficial Guide that AK has been 'known' (as a cost cutting measure) to delay the opening of the Asia section of the park, as well as other areas, until 30 minutes or more after the rest of the park opens. We'll be there the end of Sept-early Oct, which is off season, and I'm wondering what the chances are that they'll do that. Obviously, we want to go on Killimanjaro Safaris (in Asia) FIRST THING in the morning, and the thought of hanging around an additional 30 minutes or more, doesn't please me! :guilty: What do you AK experts think? :confused3

Kilimanjaro Safaris is in Africa, not Asia. Africa is always opened. You won't have a problem.

You will love this ride! Enjoy :sunny:

Hi, Elizabeth - You'll easily be able to do the Safari first thing, as it is, as the previous poster said, in Africa and not Asia. However, if you ever have that 30 minutes at the beginning of the day to kill, a nice leisurely stroll through the paths of the Oasis will take it up very nicely. A great time to see the animals and foliage!!!!

There will always be something fabulous you really really want to do available at park opening. Don't worry - and by the time you've done that first ride, whatever you were waiting for will be open.

Have a great trip!!!

we went on an early opening day and the only things open were ttbab and safari. .however if they wait 1/2 an hr you could do those 2 things and be in asia as soon as it opens

When we were there on July 15. We were at the rope drop @ 9AM and followed a big crowd to the safari ride and waited 5 minutes to get on. After the safari ride we walked over to the river rapids in Asia. It was about 9:20am and the river ride was not opened yet, but there were about 30 people ahead of us waiting.

At 9:30 the ride opened and we followed the line and got on quickly. (DS11 had the wet seat and got drenched, but the rest of us were dry).
When we got off, we followed the exit and saw not many people were in line, so we took another ride. This time I had the wet seat and got drenched.
We could of rode again with a short wait, but decide we had enough.

Enjoy the scenery and/or take some photos while you have a short wait.
