I'm altering a few clipboards and I'm wondering if someone can tell me how to keep the paper from bubbling up?

I tried to put modge podge on the paper and clipboard+ rubbing the paper down.....just on the clipboard + rubbing the paper down.....it always bubbles.

If anyone has any helpful tips, I'd appreciate them!! Thanks:cool1:

hi megan,
try asking this question to bernard and miss bianca. i think she's made them before. i'm sure she would be happy to help you out. i am going to try them for this trip, but have not bought them yet. are you using the plastic ones or the woodtype ones?
really start a new thread asking b & m b how do i .... she's so very nice and i'm sure she'll help!

good luck! i'll let you know if i start mine how i make out.

I don't know if this is what other people do, but it worked for me. When I glued my Cricut cutouts to the back of a clear plastic clipboard (so that you could see it the right way from the front), I used the Mod Podge like glue and just covered the front of the piece to start. I kept it squished under a large dictionary overnight. I did make sure none of the Mod Podge leaked out, though. It was easy to see this through the clear clipboard. I started putting on sealing coats of Mod Podge the next morning. My pieces were made out of cardstock, too, so I don't know if paper thickness makes a difference.

Mine tended to bubble if I used to much mod podge (MP). First thing I did was lightly sand the clipboard, then apply a thin coat of MP on the board, adhere the paper stating at the top and smoothing it out as I went down the board. If glue squeezes out that's ok. Next I added my embellishments. I had a hard time getting some stickers to stay on so next time I'm going to remove the adhesive first. To adhere non sticker pieces use a little MP to glue it down. Once everything is dry I coated the top of the paper with more MP using 5-6 thin layers. Allowing them to dry in between layers.

one note, where the grommets are on the back, after placing the paper down on the clipboard I used a rounded tip of a ball point pen, or you can use the large end of an embossing tool, and I slowly ran the tip around the edge of the grommet to stretch the paper for a good fit. Just be careful you don't tear the paper. If you do tear it use tweezers to place the paper back in it's spot and the final coats of MP will seal everything.

Good luck!

Thank you for the kind words!

thank-you so much for all the help! I think I'm using too much Modge Podge and not letting it dry enough between coats.
I'll have to take it easy when putting it on from now on!

Thanks again!!:woohoo:
