Question about AKL

I am looking into a studio for next year at the AKL. Can anyone tell me a section of the resort that is closest to the main hub/ pool area. This year we tried OKW and got stuck way in the back of the resort and did not utilize anything at hospitality house because it was s o far from where we were staying. Also are there elevators for the vacation club? Thanks so much for your help in advance .

AKL/AKV is generally all referred to as AKL, but there are two separate buildings- AKL- Jambo and AKV- Kidani. Kidani is the DVC part, but some rooms at Jambo are DVC also. I assume you're talking about Kidani.

The pool at Jambo is centrally located, but the pool at Kidani is off to the side.

AKL/AKV has interior entrances and is not separate buildings like OKW, but the buildings are long, so you could find yourself walking a long way to the lobby/transportation. If you're using Disney buses, I'd request a room near the lobby. If you'll be driving, at Kidani you actually park under the building so can park near the elevator closest to your room. Yes, both AKL and AKV have elevators.

At Jambo the DVC villas are on the 5th floor (except club villas.) there are elevators - being on the hallway called Zebra trail is very convenient to the elevators to the pool and QS restaurant Mara. Most people at Jambo walk through the gift shop to and from the buses. Unlike OKW everything at Jambo is in one large building.
Kidani is about a 10 minute walk from Jambo, has villas on all floors (it's all DVC) and it's also one building.

We stayed in a dvc studio at Jambo last month. Actually, we stayed in two. The first two nights we had a standard view and the last four nights we had Savannah view. I requested "close to the lobby" on online check-in . Our first room was 5209, and was right by the bridge that goes over the lobby. It looked out in to one of the animal enclosures and we saw lots of animals. Our second room, being a Savannah room was a little further down. However, it was right by a set of elevators that let out right by the Mara and pool area. The room number for our second room was 5509. I don't think you could go wrong with either area, we were very pleased with how close we were to everything the entire trip.
