Question about AirTran Airways & flying in general...

Has anyone ever flown on AirTran Airways? They have the cheapest fare for us. (Chicago to Orlando) Are they ok? Also it says: This fare does not offer seat assignment. You may select your seats upon check in for your flight.
This doesn't mean that you may not get a seat does it??? Thanks.
 
You'll get a seat, but not until you check in the day of the flight. My recommendation is to get there as early as possible. That way you'll have a better choice of seat assignment, and if the flight is overbooked the earlier you get there the better your chance of not being involuntarily bumped.

My wife and I have flown AirTran a number of times. Actually, we prefer them over some of the major airlines. Last time we were on a US Airways flight she was extremely uncomfortable.
 
You can select seats online 24 hours before flight time. I've flow with them three times and got good seats that way. One time we waited until we got to the airport on the return and ended up with uncomfortable seats in the last row. If you have a laptop but no printer, you can still do the online check-in and get the printed boarding passes at the airport. The front desk at your resort may also do it for you.
 
We've flown with them many times and used the online check-in 24 hours before our flights to pick our seats. Right now I am waiting for their Jan fares to go on sale so we can take our fave non-stop flight from ROC to MCO. Right now the fare down is $109-1 way and that is a little too rich for my budget! :)

Not only are they OK, they are one of the few airlines actually making money (or at least close to it). We love them because they have a nonstop from our city to MCO, and they have treated uswell in the past.
 
I've never flown with them but will be in October. I've e-mailed them twice already with questions, and they are very quick to respond and helpful. We're traveling with our children 3 and 22 months for the first time. They assigned us seats already because with the kids in car seats they need to be at the window so I needed seats right behind on another, couldn't chance not being together. All over e-mail they assigned our seats as a courtesy. I thought that was nice and I have a e-mail in writing for check-in if there is a problem.

I also think Consumer Reports rated them high in customer service.
