Question about advertising in and around Disney

For some reason, I am worried about this. I am going with my two 9 year old sons and a 7 year old nephew. They are all appreciative, fun kids. However, we can't do *everything* can we?

If we decide that going to the Micky Christmas party isn't worth it (because I can't see any of our kids being up much later than 9:30 or so and having that much fun) will there be signs everywhere saying how great the party is and how everyone must buy tickets? If we skip certain attractions (say we decide to give the Tower of Terror a pass or Fantasmic or Illuminations) are there advertisements everywhere that will torment my children?

We are going to take a day to go to Sea World, and I am just sure that there will be billboards showing how much great Discovery Cove would be, lol. I think this might be a tad bit of "Mom guilt" in advance!

Not to worry they will be so worn out from all the other stuff they do they won't notice the small things they miss.

In this case you are dealing with the ways of the capitalist world. Advertise or die! Disney usually keeps it's in park advertising to a minimum but as with any business they do try and promote what they consider their biggest draws. There is no way to completely isolate your children from this but there is a way to deal with it.

Before I say anymore, please understand that I am not being critical of anyones methods here just expressing my beliefs. As a parent or guardian it is your responsibility to decide what is best for the ones in your care. When my children were that age, they had input but I made the final decisions about what I considered "in their best interest".

Our judgements about what is good or bad vary from person to person. For example, I, personally, do not feel that children that are 7 or 9 years old cannot, on special occasions, stay up beyond 9:30. This would be especially true if the experience is not available at any other time. That being said, that is your choice. As for the "other" attractions, well, usually time restricts the number of things that can be experienced regardless of the intentions. The Orlando, Kissimmee area is a non-stop entertainment mecca. If you are just on a brief vacation (less than a year) it would not be possible to see everything that is advertized out there. Go with what you consider to be the "must do" things and leave the rest for another time. In the meantime, relax and have a good time.

It appears, from the wording of your post, that you haven't been to WDW before. If that is true you will understand what I am talking about when you arrive. You just can't do everything no matter how much advertising is thrown your way. Enjoy your trip.

Don't miss Fantasmic or IllumiNations, but have fun, i dont think it will be too bad though. I don't have holiday experience at WDW so idk about the MVMCP
