Just joined DVC through a small resale contract. If I were to finance a 50 point contract through disney directly, will they guarantee me the same use year month? Does it have to be at my home resort? I would like to add 50 points through disney at SSR at a later time since its a longer contract. At the 7 month point, will I be able to combine both points? Is it at the 50 point mark that disney will let you finance through DVC?

Thanks!

They will insist on it being the same use year unless you buy a new 150 point contract. You can buy it at any resort but the easiest for you will be SSR because that's what DVC is currently marketing (after all it is the "flagship resort");). And yes you will be able to combine points at 7 months for a reservation.

Does DVC offer current incentives to adding only a 50 points or will I have to pay the full $98 a point?

In the past, incentives kicked in at 100 point add ons but I'm not too familiar with what might be available at SSR.

If you haven't already, you'll be assigned a DVC Guide; to answer all your questions re an add-on.

FYI, when we added on everything but BCV was available immediately in our point range. Sure was nice to have the points available for booking the next day...quite a difference from resale. Good luck.

I may be the only one that thinks like this, but with smaller contracts, I would only buy the same use year and the same resort. Unless I were buying enough points for the full stay, I don't see what you are gaining buying a different resort.

I think getting the extra years is important if you are young enough to benefit from them. I personally would want all points at the same resort for ease in making reservations.

I recently did an SSR add-on... to get the $8 incentive you have to add-on at least 100 points. To get the 15% incentive ($14.70 off) you have to add-on at least 120 points.

Anything less and you have to pay the full $98 per point at SSR.

If purchased thru Disney it will be the same use year. The advantage of owning two separate resorts is to have the 11-month booking window which works with smaller contracts when you bank/borrow. A 50 point contract can be worth 150 points every 3rd year.

If someone owned three 50 point contracts they could bank/borrow within each and every year have 150 points to use at 11-month at one or the three resorts, with the 'home' resort rotating each year.

If instead they owned a single 150 point contract, they would only have the 11-month booking advantage at that single resort, and would only have 7-months at the other resorts.

Ahh, explained like that I get it!! I never understood why you would want say own 40 points at 3 resorts, sure you have the 11 month at all of them, but I wouldn't want to move around. but I totaly never realized that you would bank and borrow and that would give you the needed amount to plan a trip and get you the 11 month widow!! Thanks!

Thanks Caskbill -- I never understood the advantages either. :goodvibes

That's our game plan...we need 1 more resort to complete the trilogy...waiting for the next, best thing. If we could only figure out how to transfer points to ourselves, between our add-ons, we'd be set.
