Question about adding a day to a package??

Here is my problem...we are arriving at Disney on a Sat., Nov. 9. We have room-only reservations for Sat. night and Sun. night at Pop Century. Then we have a package with free dining starting on Mon.-Fri. with a 5-day park pass and room at Pop Century again. (FYI - they also sent me the Magic Bands to try out for them.)

I have two questions:
1. Can I use one of my 5-day park passes on Sun. even though it is a room-only day and my package doesn't technically start until Mon.? We are thinking of taking a mid-week day off from the parks so we want to go to the park on Sun.

2. Can I add a 6th day to my park passes and use it on Sun. and get it at the discounted (not paying for a single-day) rate?

I really, really, really am upset that this might be a problem and I might have to pay for a single-day ticket for Sunday!! Can anyone give me advice on the best way to ask about this when calling the ticket office?? Also, has anyone had this happen to them and can offer advice? ANY help is much appreciated and know that I'm losing sleep over this tonight waiting for your answers...I should be excited with only three weeks to go and instead I'm completely stressed!!! :sad2::sad2:

Welcome to the DIS!

This post is all about WDW Ticketing and is maintained by a DIS-er who works at WDW in ticketing, so you can trust the information. Don't call -- you won't get the right answer.

Post #15 tells you how to get your tickets in advance of your package start-date. So yes, you can pick up your park tickets before your package actually starts. And yes, you can add days to your ticket and pay the approx $10/day to do so. Read the "ticket sticky" and it will answer all your questions.

But, seriously, don't call WDW to ask. You'll get different answers from every person you talk to and likely none of them will be correct, as none of them work in ticketing.

No worries! No stress allowed! :)

The short answer from what I've learned on the DIS is yes, you can pick up your package tickets and use them on Sunday, even though your package technically starts on Monday. I've read from convincing sources here on the DIS that you can pick up your package tickets 3 days before your package starts.

You can also add a day onto your package to cover Sunday so it's only an additional like 10 bucks per person instead of a single park day rate of like 95.

Thanks for the info everyone!! While I'm sooo glad that I will be able to use my tickets a day early it is very disconcerting that I can't do it ahead of time! What if I get there and no one can do it with the Magic Bands and now we are screwed out of a day at the park?!? My type-A personality might go crazy before I leave if I have to wait!!

I would just like confirmation from Disney that I can do it before I leave and so far they have been downright nasty to me on the phone about it!!

Any more insight/suggestions are appreciated!!

Call Disney and tell them you want to add a day to your park tickets on your package. Since the package price is going up, there should not be a change fee (ask to be sure though!!) and you'll pay the difference at that time, since you are less than 45 days to arrival.

The people at the call centers are required to tell you that you cannot pick up tickets early. They are also required to tell you that you cannot get into the Halloween or Christmas Party before 7:00 pm.

Many calls are monitored, and in at least these two instances if they tell you anything else they can (and will) be fired.

So if you already have your magic bands can you get them activated a day before your package starts?

Your Magic Bands are active when you receive them. You can go online at any time and deactivate them but the arrive at your home "active". They need to be active before you check in because Magic Express uses them at the airport in lieu of vouchers.

Another crazy question--If I already have received the magic bands and want to add a day (to go in earlier), will the extra day be placed "magically" on my band when I call, add, and pay for the extra day--or will I have to stop by a ticket counter to do that? :confused3

Thanks for the response! Makes me feel a LOT better! Have a few more questions for you:
1. What place is the best to go to ask about getting in a before the package starts? We are staying at POP. Is that the best or DTD or one of the parks?

2. What exactly should say?! Exact working would really help my stress on this! Will I have it get pushy or should it be fairly easy?

3. I have two sets of Magic Bands that both say they have a 5-day park pass on them. Should I just try to wear one on that Sun. and try it get in and play "stupid"? I'm really not trying to get away with anything. I've already paid for 5 days, just want to use the first day a day before the package "officially" starts.

Would love to hear your answers!

One of the previous posters already posted the link to the Ticket Sticky thread and gave the post number of that thread that contains the instructions for how and where to get your package tickets early.

I have no personal experience with this. However, my sister and her husband added a day once we were there and the additional day was also on their Magic Bands with no problem whatsoever. It is my understanding that the bands contain the code for the ticket, so when then ticket is upgraded in any way, the change is immediate on the bands.

Thanks! Hopefully someone has tried this and will stumble upon this thread. Just when you think you know the ins and outs of all things Disney, they throw in a change. Gotta keep us on our toes!! :rotfl2:

I think you are concerned about the wrong things....the magic bands don't have your tickets ON them...they are a reference to your tickets.

Cheshire Figment works there - he has told you exactly what to do in the ticket sticky. What more are you looking for?

From my experience, do not attach the tickets to the bands or room keys! We switched resorts last two days, also added the tickets to our band. It was a mess.
Unrelated, when we got to the CB at midnight using the room key, we could not get in. It was 1:00 am before we got a new key.

I absolutely was thrilled for a band before we arrived and was ready to throw it away two days in. They are sweaty, the jibbitz fall out, a known problem but keep selling them.

I hated losing time on the trip at CS or the FD trying to work things out.

Are they not sending vouchers for ME anymore? Do you have to use magic bands to check in?
