Question about a Wii...

There is absolutely NO news on any new form of Wii. People are speculating on a hard drive for it and a new version with a DVD player. A hard drive would give you more memory, but for the moment you could buy an SD card. Don't buy one of Nintendo's, though. Way too expensive.

Besides games, you can browse the internet (no keyboard yet, though I'm sure Nintendo or a third party will make one soon), you can see weather, play ANY GameCube game, and do several other little things. They call the things on the menus "channels" and they come out with new ones for the Wii every now and then. You can also go on the Shop Channel and download Virtual Console games, which are games from old systems like the Nintendo 64, NES, and Sega Genesis. They do cost money though, and you can buy $20 cards at stores with a code to redeem for cash. You will also need a controller, so you can buy a classic controller which can play all games, or a GameCube which can play most.
You will need wireless internet though for a lot of things, like the Shop Channel or Internet Channel. Most wireless routers will work, or you can buy a USB or LAN adapter.

Wow! thanks for the info!! you pretty much answered everything i needed to know! rofl. :rotfl: butttttt i'm sure i'll think up of a question to ask along the way of my shopping process.:laughing: thanks again shymojack!

CRAP. It is re-furbished. I got it today....

Mal the problem with taking it back to the store is it was a gift and I have no clue where it came from.

Man..........that stinks.

I was afraid of that. Sorry.

Can you ask? did they give you a gift receipt or have the receipt from where they purchased it.

Refurbished is not bad!!!! Nintendo by far has the best service of any of the manufacturers. When you get a refurbished from them it is just as good if not better then new, becuase they have put the new parts/fixes into it.

To find out all about wiifriend codes and more come to the link in my signature! We've been going strong since day one of the Wii!

I n my opinion Refurbished is bad when you or someone buying it for you just paid $249 for a brand NEW system. It does not matter one bit if the Nintendo has the best service and great techs...new is new and it should work out of the box or be replaced with a new system.

I expect anything that I purchase to work as it is intended to work out of the box or be replaced by a new unit.

The problem with the Wii is finding a console to begin with and if lucky enough to get one taking it back to get a replacement is difficult if no other systems are in stock.

To start you will need the console and a Nunchuk and possibly a classic controller.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/s...-1_blended_25733035_2&results-process=default

the console comes with one controller so if you want an extra you will need to buy another one along with the nunchuk.

and Of course any games you want.
The Nintendo Wii Console includes:

* One Wii Remote
* One Nunchuk
* Wii Sports Game Disc (5 games; Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Bowling and Boxing)
* Power cord
* Sensor bar
* Standard AV composite cable
i got this off walmart .com and i keep seeing this thing a remoe charger do i need one and i will probly only getting one game at the time so i can beat that one ;) but do i need anything else besides that such as recomended items or anything thanks again

sorry, we got our Wii the day they came out and I did not remember that it came with a Nunchuk.

So if you want to play some of the older down loadable games you will only need the classic controller.

we use rechargeable batteries, they last longer. So if you do not have one of those that would be an option but not needed right away.

personally we do only use Nintendo brand accessories but that is up to you.

They do include a nunchuck, there must have been an error if you did not recieve one.

I would reccomend you rent most games before you buy right now for Wii, there are plenty that are fun for a while but wear off quickly. I would recommend renting WarioWare: Smooth Moves. It has plenty of fun minigames to keep you occupied for a little bit. But a big part of that game is multiplayer, so you might want to pick up another remote or two first.

I did not say we didn't receive one. I said I did not remember, big difference :rotfl: of course it could have something to do with having to camp out for the thing for like 13 hours and I was exhausted.:rotfl:

I actually like the sports game that came with the Wii. I think your choice of game depends on what you like to play.

DS just got need for speed and I am hopeless at it ;) but I love playing the classic games we have downloaded and the sports games that came with the system and the new one.

When I said we use only Nintendo accessories I should note that the ONE main exception is the Memory card...Nintendo's is way too expensive.

Enjoy your new Wii.

Wow. You posted at 5:31 am. I wanted to camp out and get one but I wasn't allowed.

We just went to Wal-Mart to see how many people were there. And I got to check out what Wii games were already out. I had to get ready for Christmas! :D

And like Mal said, I'm a big fan of the classic games since I wasn't around to play most of them the first time. Those games and Wii Sports are all I play at the moment.

any recomened games i am for sure going to buy call of duty 3 but is there anyothers i should think about getting

platformers
adventure

Any kind, eh? Go buy everything. :P

Like I said before, you will probably want to rent most games first right now. Try renting WarioWare: Smooth Moves or Excite Truck.

lol thanks for the tip but my dad said he is all ways woirred that the games might be dirty or messed up and break the system i dont know if it would tho thanks

none i have tried breack the system and they wure all in bad shape
try super paper mario or zelda
wait for metroid
wait for mario or brawl

I have both WarioWare and Paper Mario - both excellant games. I have played part of Zelda and it was amazing as well. I would reccomend any of those three games. I would stay away from a lot of movie based games, as most of them are pretty horrible (Harry Potter looks interesting on the Wii though...).

have any of you played call of duty 3 on wii i am thinking about getting it.but now if target has a Wii on sunday i might get a wii then.does any of you know a game that i should buy when i get a wii any game type but not zelda i love the zelda games and if i geet into i cant stopplaying it till i beat it.but any games i should buy thanks for answering my questions.
