My fiancee and me are planning on going to Orlando again, either in July or August. I was wondering though , if with the Hurricane season around that time, will it be a complete wash out? We want to go Disney, but also other things. Any of you guys been to Orlando around this time? Thanks!

I live in FL, so my knowledge of hurricane season is not too bad. :teeth:  Hurricane season technically does start in June, however they usually don't hit til September or October. Last year was a HORRIBLE year for hurricanes, :sad2: :guilty: and all of us here in FL are praying we don't have to go through that again.

You should be just fine visiting Disney in July or August. Just be aware, the weather is VERY hot, sometimes unbearable, but there are ways to deal with it and make your trip enjoyable. :sunny: Any other questions...just HOLLA!! :bitelip: :goodvibes

Hi! Our family was in Orlando last year when Hurricane Charley hit. It hit on a Friday evening and went right through WDW. Damage was fairly extensive--lots of Orlando, Kissimmee and the surrounding area were without power and there were lots of trees down, etc.

The parks were open that Friday until 1. Then they all opened at regular time the next day, with the exception of AK. With the exception of FastPass not working the day after and intermittent monorail service, everything worked and looked great.

So I wouldn't worry too much. Even if you're blessed with a hurricane like we were ;) , the parks will still be open as much as possible.

I second the first reply

As a lifelong resident of South Louisiana, you've picked a pretty good time frame, hurrican wise (not heat wise)

The further into fall the morelikely a storm is.

Not to say you wont have on ein the summer, but your chances are low

Here's a page with maps of storm probability by month.
Kinda interesting to see how much it changes between July and August
