Question about a Rate Decrease?

I currently have 2 rooms booked at the CAA/AAA rate for POP. If an AP rate comes out that is better than my current rate, I will attempt to get a ressie at the lower rate.
We plan on prepaying our room ressie in the next month.

My question is if I get a better rate and have already paid in full at the CAA rate, will they refund the difference. Or do I have to pay for the new AP ressie and get a full refund on the CAA ressie?

What they did for us when we switched from one night rack-rate to one night code rate was refund the difference on our credit card. It took around a month or two until they finally credited it, we had our travel agent call twice, but it was done - hey $30 is $30 - lol!!
