Hello,

Though I've been to the House of the Mouse several times. I must be honest and admit it wasn't until my last trip my wife and I took with with Grandson#1 that I learned of, and got interested in pin trading for fun. This year Cathy and I are taking my daughter and her three boys to WDW, so obviously (LOL), I'm going to be buying a lot more pins!!

The above being said: This ~not~ an endorsement, it is a question regarding buying pins from places other that WDW. While searching for places to buy pins for a bit less money, and not wanting to buy scrappers (a term I learned here) to pollute the pin pool. I came upon an ad on Ebay from a seller by the name of "funmamas" http://myworld.ebay.com/funmamas

This seller has high ratings and says s/he will deliver to the parks. The delivery fee is about the same price as if I had them shipped to my home.

:confused3 Now here are my questions: What is your opinion of buying pins off Ebay? And, has anyone on the board ever bought anything from funmamas before?

Thanks you for reading this and I look forward to reading your responses. :flower3:

Unfortunately that seller has FAKE pins, please do not purchase from them. Please follow the link in my signature to the eBay Super Thread on pins and pin buying. The thread is quite long but most of the important information is on the first page.
Thank You for asking, happy trading!!

I just looked her over...
her feedback is pretty good[idiots do not count]..
and...her lot listings show pictures of real pins.
Here is why,
I would not buy from her and that I would believe they would have to be fake....
lots of folks deliver pins to the resorts...
I do..
and do not charge extra for it...
but,her prices are too cheap.
no one can sell you a lot of 200 real pins for 230.
nice if it can be done..
but,it cannot.
Figure you should have to pay..
2 bucks a pin..give or take a few cents.
Especially..if you are buying them through ebay..
as..after all fees..the seller is getting about 1.60:wizard:

Your post, and the link you provided, was most informative, useful and helpful.

I want to do the right thing when it comes to pin trading. First and foremost I want to keep it fun, both for me and mine along with the other people/families pin trading. Secondly (but no much less important), I don't want to be responsible for ruining somene elses enjoyment by spoiling what a person/family thinks to be a real and complete series of pins.

I hear and completely understand!! And pin trading can be quite $$$$! :) I have a family of 4 traders so I am very familiar with it. :) I'm glad the thread was able to help and I hope you have a great time pin trading! :)

Thanks to all the great responses, I was able to make use of the tips given and now have a great selection of pins to trade on my families upcoming vacation. :goodvibes

After beginning to deal with a couple of eBay sellers, and having exchanged e-mails with several "families" selling their own collection of pins that I found using Google and other search engines; I gave these sellers the "scratch & sniff test" based on what I learned via this thread. Bottom line, to me, and in my opinion, these sellers stunk!

I won't go into how, just read the above replies and/or Google "scrappers" and a number of red-flags were raised by their responses to my questions. :scratchin I'll leave it at that.

What I did was call a couple of local "swap shop" radio call-in shows, and posted a "pins wanted" message in my local Craigslist. Using this method I met several people in person, listened to their adventures about being at WDW, and why they were selling their pins. All were real people, and all the pins were genuine. :woohoo:

Now, I'm not saying don't buy pins from eBay sellers, or from people you may find using various search engines. All I'm saying is caveat emptor with whom you get your pins.

Long story short, DISboard and DISboard members come through again!! :thanks:
