Question about a pin I bought on Ebay

Hi. I'm pretty new to pin collecting and only have about 6 pins so far. They all have a mickey head back. I got one in the mail today that does not have this back, it has a regular gold pin back. The pin is official, it's from 2006. I was just wondering about the back? Are all of the pins supposed to have those Mickey head backs? Did this person just lose theirs and replace it? Will I still be able to trade it? Can I buy just a back somewhere?

Backs aren't important. The Mickey backs were a novelty that most guests liked, so they became the standard. Metal backs are the least realiable in keeping your pin on the lanyard. So the person who sold the pin could be trying to get rid of his supply, or he might have received it that way when trading for it off a CM lanyard. You will also see plastic backs that are not Mickey head shaped, and all sorts of colors, not just black.

So long as it is an official pin with a Disney copyright on the back, then it is tradable.
