Question about 8x8 albums....

I was wondering how many pages an 8x8 album will hold? I would like to use that size album as autograph/scrapbooks for our upcoming Disney trip but I want to be sure it will have enough room for lots of pages! I would like to have the characters sign one page and after the trip scrap a picture of my son & daughter with the character on the page facing the sig. The post bound Mickey album I am considering comes with 10 pages and 10 spacers but says you can add additional pages. Are the spacers necessary or do you omit them if you want to add more pages?

Thanks for any help you can give a newbie! What a talented group you have here - I know I'll be spending way too much time on this board!

It depends on the type of album that you purchased. In my 12" X 12" Pioneer albums, I usually can fit in two refill packages. I use the spacers to try and keep the binding equal with the width of the open end (notice I use the word "try" because it the pages are always thicker!).

With 10 pages in your book, you will only have 9 pages for signing, so I'd suggest that you cram as many refills as possible into that lil' guy.

Is that the black Mickey album? I was told it could be expanded to 2.5 inches. I added 2 packs of refills and I'm under 2 inches still. I can't remember if there are 10 sleeves or 5 sleeves to a pack though, I'm sorry! Start looking for those refills now, they are hard to find (mine came from www.snippinsnapscrap.com but I did buy them in the store, not their online store).

I just looked and it does not appear that their online store is up. It just went online on 4-1, so I don't know what the deal is.

In a creative memories album I have 50 sides (25 leaves), and that's about as thick as I'd want to go with it. i guess they're 7X7 not 8x8, but close enough.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I think I'll just order the albums and play around with them when they arrive. The site I was going to order from doesn't list their manufacturer so I may have to wait to buy the refills until I actually have the albums in hand and bring them with me to a scrapbook store. From what I've been reading on the boards buying page refills isn't as simple as one would think!

WDWAurora - The albums I am looking at are on ScrappinDaisy (can't post URLs yet!). They have both black and red with an embossed Mickey on them. They also have a purple Tink that I think my little girl will love. Hopefully I won't have too difficult a time getting refills that fit!

Thank you again for your help!

Those are the EK Success, side loading refills that you'll need. I have the black album.

I pulled out my pages...cut cardstock and am planning to use my album as a autograph book. I'll come home and glue the picture on the top of the page. I used adhesive to put a square backing where the picture would go. You know like the album in Disney World. I bought mine from Joannes.com. It wa the cheapest I found and they're always sending me e mails for specials. I also saw that you could buy expanders.
I know this is a dumb question but what do you do with multiple black strips. The ones that go in the bindings?

Not dumb at all. I couldn't figure out how to say that. I had to use 2 of the strips to cover the binding when I added more refills. Neither one was wide enough on its own. Looks a little funny, but it gets the job done.

Thanks...that's what I figured they were for...but since I pulled my pages out and replaced them I didn't know what to do with them. You know come to think about it maybe I didn't even put them back in. I'll have to go check.
