I am not sure if this could work but right now me and DH have our trip booked for Nov 28-Dec 6 with the free dining pin at Coronado Springs. Two friends of ours want to take their daughter and they are thinking about going the exact same dates as us but staying at POP. Is it possible for me to book it under my current reservation in my name with my pin for them at POP so they could also get the free dining? Another quick question, they don't have a credit card so I am going to use my credit card to pay for her trip and she is going to give me the money for it, will they need that credit card to check in at the resort? I can't remember for some reason what is needed at check in.

You can book a second room at a different resort under your pin (provided there is a room available). It will be in your friend's name, and you can pay for it with your credit card. The only credit card we needed at check in was the one that we wanted to put room charges on. If they don't want to do that then they won't need a cc.

I tried to do this last week, and we were told by a regular CM and a Grand Gathering CM that we had to all be at the same resort. Thankfully, my friend got a pin as well, so they moved to their resort of choice.

I didn't realize this... I thought I had seen others post here about being at different resorts. Did your friends want a resort that was at a different "level", like a deluxe vs. a moderate, or were they wanting a same level resort?

My friends are a family of 5, so they wanted to stay at POR with a trundle. We plan to stay at POP. At first, the CM said we could do that, and I was so excited, but then he came back and said we couldn't. He transferred me to a Grand Gathering CM who also said we couldn't. Of course, I don't doubt that someone has been able to do it (it seems some things differ depending on who you get); but in my case, it seemed like he was going to let me, and the system wouldn't let him.

At first, my friends decided to go with two adjoining rooms at POP (which was only $15/night more than one room at POR) so they could get the free dining, but when she got a code, they switched. We are still connected as a Grand Gathering, but since we both have our own codes, we didn't have to stay together.

Okay, gotcha'! I'm glad they were able to get their own code, because even $15/night can start to add up if you are there for a long trip!

Anytime Disney finds out there is "more than 8" in a travel party they like to make it a GG. I think because they can "offer" you more options (like the dessert cruises, etc) that of course you have to pay extra for. ;)
