Question about 2 bedrooms

My wife and I have recently decided to buy into the GF DVC. We will be getting enough points to get a studio every year, or a one bedroom every other year.

That being said, some years, we would like to try to book a two bedroom elsewhere (for the same points as a one bedroom at the GF) to bring down some extended family.

Our question is, what are the odds of getting a two bedroom anywhere at the 7 month mark, and, what are the DVC resorts that are most likely to have availability?

Thanks.

It depends on the time of year and resort in question. As a rule, one can get something at 7 months out in a 2 BR but some times of the year it'll only be SSR, OKW or at times, AKV.

The odds vary, depending on the time of the year.

For the summer months, your odds for WDW DVC resorts are actually quite good for BLT lake view, VWL, BWV Pool/Garden view, AKV standard or savanna view, OKW & SSR. Odds pretty good for BCV, too. This assumes you book right at 7 months.

For other times of the year, if you give us a general idea of what time of the year and what particular resorts you are interested in, we can give you a better idea of the odds.

The times we would be needing a two bedroom would always be late June/early July. Eould prefer BLT, BWV, BCV, or WLV but would probably take anything the years we take the larger family trips.

Caution:::::: Once you get a 2 bedroom its so hard to go back - just saying :rotfl2:

Haha. I'm sure it is! But, as of right now we are only needing one every once in a while...Now in 13 years we will probably have needed to add on.

So for a standard VGF 1 bedroom in your time frame is 340 for a week. BCV is 350 and VWL is the same....BLT for LV is 386. You probably can't get standard view. As for availability, since is a way off. This year check and see what's available at the 7 month window.

That depends on if you include July 4th in your trip. You're talking a holiday week there so availability gets very tight.

FWIW I just checked on availability for several dates using that time frame. Just before July 4th, including July 4th and just after July 4th. You get spotty availability at BWV, BCV, BLT and WLV when you include either just before or during July 4th. Several days are booked during the week but you'll have a few days strung together or no availability at all. SSR, OKW and AKV were available the whole time.

This just supports the accepted theory that the smaller resorts are harder to book in busy times than the larger ones.

I agree! :) The week of July 4th can be more difficult.

However, had we looked as soon as the 7 month window opened, my best "guess" is that there would have been availability for an entire week at some of the smaller resorts, even for the holiday week. Right now, the 7 month window is at the end of August, so members have had several weeks to book up the holiday week.

There is still availability for an entire week for at least mid-July at BLT, BWV & VWL (and AKV, SSR & OKW).

At 7 months out for late June early July including July 4 time, all of which is an average demand time for DVC, you can usually find 2BRs anywhere at WDW except for the following booking categories: AKV club level and value, BLT standard view, BWV standard and boardwalk views, and BCV dedicated 2BRs with two queens in the second bedroom.
