Question about 11/7 months

I was reading in another post about cruises that you only have to make the resssie at a time when you'll have points, even if you don't have them currently. If so, what is the point of the 11 and 7 month windows?? Or is this just for outside disney stuff?? Thanks for the help.

The 11 month priority applies only to reservations at your home resort vs. other DVC resorts. Other programs may be reserved at 11 months also. This includes other WDW resorts aswell as the cruise and others. Enjoy!
