I just got my planner and if I'm reading this right we need 160 points and can stay for a week at any of the 23 Hawaii resorts to choose from. Is this correct? Or is that 160 points per person?:confused3

thanks,
Amanda

It's 160 points for the 1 bedroom....You don't pay points per person in DVC, so you don't for the exchange through II either. We did an exchange to Hawaii 6 years ago, and thought it was a great bargain!

And many of those are not worth 160 points for a 1 BR or 270 pts for a 2 BR. Some of the times are actually lower than the HIGH season, MUCH of the times are actually LOW season esp for Kauai and the Big Island. I'm not home so don't have my notes but I think weeks 49 & 50 (first 2 weeks of Dec) are LOW season for all Islands.

Good weeks at good resorts are hard to come by, 2 BR units at top resorts are almost impossible. If you truly are interested in exchanging for HI, start searching a ful year out, preferably 2. Start with the resorts you know you'll be happy with then you can add second tier resorts if you get comfortable with them. The Westin, Marriott's and Sunterra resorts are the only ones I can say for certain are OK, KCR is a maybe. I personally would not do the rest for the amount of points it would require through DVC unless you're trying to match another week such as moving from one island to another, need a 2 BR or larger, or are just set on a specific week or weeks. YMMV so the final call is yours.
