Query for general advice for first time stay at Disneyland Hotel

Hi Everyone, just booked our first trip to DL, for end of May. Staying in a one bedroom suite at the disneyland hotel with my husband and 4 girls, 10, 7, 5 and 2.

Looking for basic advice.

Any recommendations about what tower to request? What experience do you have with the club level add-ons? Is it worth the extra cost?

Also, we will be without a car. Does anyone know if it is possible to walk to an area grocery store? Three of my four children have food allergies and serious dietary restrictions. We would like to eat at the resort some, but does anyone have any experience at DL with dealing with food allergies?

I am open to any other advice you veterans can offer, thanks in advance!

I would post this on the main Disneyland board so more people have a chance to see it.

Von's delivers groceries. There really is not a grocery in walking distance.

Talk with the chefs at various restaurants and explain the dietary needs and they are able to work with you.

You can call ahead (before the trip) and speak with one of the DL chefs to discuss dietary restrictions and menus. They can point out items that fit within the restrictions, and alternatively arrange for you to have specially prepared items. They are great to work with!

My DD10 is allergic to Lycopene. We have had amazing chefs at DL. They have gone out of their way to create magical meals for her. When I make reservations I always have them note her allergy. I have been called by restaurant staff to get clarification, because of it's oddity. We have had chefs come to our table to meet her and ask her what her favorite foods are. They always make her happy.
Do not hesitate to ask at every eating establishment you go to. You will be surprised at how well DL handles it. One of the reasons we have been PAP holders for 4 years now. I don't worry when I'm there. I know she will always get quality food and amazing service.
