Cast:
Me: Sophie (18/19) - 2nd Trip
Scott (30) - 7th Trip, My best friend and housemate
We wake up early for our last day in Orlando. We eat in the apartment, attempting not to waste too much of the food we had bought in, grab the last bits of our gear together (toothpaste etc) and finish packing. While Scott checks us out at the guest house, I eat a Toll House cookie ice cream sandwich Ive had waiting in our freezer for a few days before going down to take one last look at the pool area. I feed the fish in the lake and take a few final shots before we get in the car and drive away for the last time this year.
First up is a trip down to the Lake Buena Vista Outlets for our freetime check in at the Disney Outlet Store there. Theres already quite a queue before we arrive but the staff are efficient and were done in about 15 minutes. We manage to change our seats as wed been put in the middle of group of four again for the flight back and it was a nightmare on the outbound flight. The agent manages to find a row of two seats by the window at the very back of the plane for us, perfect! How Scotts suitcase ever made it through the baggage check I will never know though as there was no way it was under the weight limit!!!
We drive to the Magic Kingdom and spend the day racing around all our favourite attractions, trying to get one final go on them all. I spot Wendy outside POTC and go over to have a picture taken. Shes just going in but will be back in a few mins, normally I wouldnt wait but as my sister is called Wendy the photo op is just too good to miss!
We have burgers at Pecos Bills for lunch halfway through.
As the time we have to leave draws nearer I get more and more upset until, with about an hour to go Im actually having to keep my sunglasses on the whole time as Im walking through the park crying! Our very last ride is on Mickeys Philharmagic before we go to the Pooh shop. During our wait for Illuminations last night I had spotted a gorgeous cuddly Tigger on someones stroller so I wanted to look for one. I find him and Scott gets a cuddly Figaro for himself. When we pay, the CM asks why Im crying (still) and Scott has to explain that its time to go home to England a very long way from the magic! The CM is upset too and gives me some Mickey stickers to cheer me up.
With our new toys in hand it is time to leave so we walk as slowly as possible down Main St and board the ferry. We stand at the back watching the castle get smaller and smaller and, as we walk away from the docks up to the TTC, it finally disappears from view.
As we find our car - we parked so close the tram isnt necessary - I tell myself its less than a year until were back (it turns out its 50 weeks!) As we drive out I prime myself and manage to take a shot of the see you real soon sign which just makes me feel worse.
The drive up to Sanford is gut wrenching as normal. We check the car back in to Dollar and, as we checked our luggage in earlier, walk straight up to security which were through in minutes. We go around to the guest house first of all and get our wristbands so we can leave our baggage there. We have a few hours wait time so we do a circuit of the airport lounge and look out of the window for a while. Its very depressing knowing that its warm outside and people are enjoying themselves at the parks just a few miles away and were stuck here behind the glass having to leave it all behind.
We get dinner at the airport restaurant (burgers, fries and an indulgent chocolate dessert to cheer ourselves up) and go to the guest house. We go to the internet room and use the internet for a while to check emails (and I check the DIS!) Our flight is called on time and we board after taking a napkin full of cookies from the guest house for the flight. Our seats are great and it doesnt seem too long before were in the air. Unfortunately the flight doesnt start off too well. As the food is served (typical) we hit a rather nasty spot of turbulence and at one point the plane drops straight down for a second or two. I hate flying at the best of times so this isnt good. Many passengers (me included) scream and half the overhead storage bins decide to open, chucking bags down into the aisles along with a lot of the recently served food! Scott however barely bats an eyelid git! The rest of the flight goes ok but I can barely eat anything and am so glad when the plane finally touches down in Manchester.
We get through immigration and customs easily with just a bit of a wait for the baggage to come out. Once we have it its straight down to the taxi rank where one is waiting. We get in and are at my mums house in 15 minutes. We give her all her gifts and the items she asked me to pick up but we are knackered and just want to go home so we head off pretty quickly. We go to the supermarket first, grab a few bits and then to the cattery to get out babies back who are not very impressed with us!! Within minutes were home, the cats are out and we can finally relax, making it to the mid afternoon before going to bed for a few hours. Were mostly recovered from the jet lag within about two days and have had a wonderful trip!
