Me: Sophie (18/19) - 2nd Trip
Scott (30) - 7th Trip, My best friend and housemate
Today is our last full day in Orlando so we decide to end the day in EPCOT so we can watch Illuminations. Firstly though, I decide to go to Typhoon Lagoon to snorkel with the sharks. Id planned to do it earlier in the week but had been wary after getting burned, my skin is feeling fine now though (unlike Scotts - he is in agony a lot of the time still) so I decide to take the plunge.
We get to Typhoon Lagoon and walk straight around to the Shark Reef where I pick up my equipment. Ive never snorkelled before or even had my face under water so this is a big deal, I opt for a life jacket too as Im a very unconfident swimmer at the best of times.
The safety instructions are brief but detailed enough and soon its my time to get in the water. Its FREEZING!!! My group all swim off and Im still at the side trying to get used to putting my face under the water. A CM swims over to see if Im ok and I tell him that Ive never put my face under water before. He tells me to take all the time I need to make sure Im confident to do it before swimming out, I never once feel like hes laughing at my non ability at all. A couple of minutes later and Im used to the sensation so I swim out into the pool. Its amazing looking down and seeing all the fish, rays and sharks under you. One of the rays comes within centimetres of my leg and a shark comes up to have a look at me for a few seconds. The journey across only lasts a minute or two but felt like it took a long time, Scott says I shot across so fast he struggled to keep up and take pictures but it felt a lot longer to me.
Once Im done with my snorkelling and have washed off some of the salt (Im still tasting it for a few days after despite several showers) we head out of the park, Scott walking and me taking the lazy river as the ground is too hot to walk barefoot! I get changed and we go to the Marketplace for a last look around and to grab a few bits before driving to EPCOT.
We spend our afternoon and evening doing favourite rides and looking around. After weve gone through Futureworld we head to Canada as I want to take pictures of all the countries in World Showcase.
We walk slowly through the lands, getting pictures as it grows slowly darker. We stop off at The American Adventure for a helping of fries and patriotically coloured jelly. While were there the marching band come in and play some music. When theyre done, the flag bearer finds a young boy in the room. I hear him ask the boy a few questions about the nations history which the boy answers correctly. The guy is thrilled and awards the boys one of the jellys for free!
We carry on our journey to Mexico, taking in Maelstrom and El Rio Del Tiempo en route. Its till early so we go back to Futureworld for a while and jump on a few rides with short queues before heading back to grab a spot in Mexico for Illuminations. I hold our spot while Scott goes and gets a beer from one of the festival stands nearby. It ends up being the perfect spot to film the show from and we both enjoy it immensely. We head back to the car slowly taking our last looks around the park and drive over to Ponderosa for a very late dinner. When were done, we go to Summer Bay and pack, ready for the morning.
