Queen Elizabeth funeral and looking forward

I feel this way as well, and sincerely hope that William and Harry, over time, can regain some of the closeness they once had, now that their father is King. If their mother were alive, you know she’d be devastated by the current state of their relationship.

I don’t have strong feelings either way about Meghan. I remember thinking when she and Harry became engaged, that I was so happy for him. That he had chosen the woman he loved, and that she was being accepted despite being a commoner, an American, previously married, and biracial (all qualities that may have been problematic in a previous generation).

Life is short, and time (and in their case, distance) often heals wounds. Let’s also remember that Camilla once was considered the most hated woman in England. Public perception of her has clearly softened (helped in part perhaps by the support shown to her by the Queen, as well as William and Harry).

It's one thing to forgive someone but to EVER trust them again is MUCH harder. Especially when you've been burned time after time.

I've noticed this week that Camilla seems to have developed a tremor of her head. When you watch her when she's sitting or standing still, it's there. I'm sure it's exacerbated by fatigue, but I can't help wondering whether it's serious, like Parkinson's, or simply a function of aging.

Yes, I was just watching some of the processional again that I missed earlier and she definitely has a tremor of some kind. Like others have said, this has also been an extraordinarily stressful and taxing time for the family and so fatigue may also be playing a role here.

I just think of funerals in my own family and how the death of a loved one hits so hard....and then days of planning and then a 2-3 day event with viewings, funeral mass and repast...and it's just exhausting. The funeral for Queen Elizabeth is that....times one zillion. I hope that they all get to catch their collective breath in the coming days as she lays in state.

I have to say...today was so incredibly moving....I can't imagine what Monday will look like. The Brits certainly know how to put on this kind of an affair. And so deserved for this woman...this Queen.

Yes...something is going on with his health for sure with the swelling in his hands, and apparently it's in his feet as well.

It could well be arthritis. He has had problems with the hand swelling since at least 2012, when he made a joking remark about it in an appearance just after a really long flight. My mother lasted 30 years after developing a pretty severe case of it, though she did use a wheelchair for most of the final 10 years of her life because the swelling in her feet made it too painful to walk.

The situation with his hands is probably why Charles is so picky about the writing pens he uses. My mom could only grip pens with a very large oval barrel after her hands became deformed, and writing by hand became very slow and painful for her over time. She too would have been desperately clinging to her special pen if someone had expected her to do any public document-signing ceremonies.

He was complaining about the pen because it was leaking.

I agree they all look tired. Heard they are going to the country tomorrow in there own homes. King Charles and Camilla . Also said he has a mediation place there he had build.

William and Kate are also going to a different place.

Heard on CNN that it is Harry’s birthday tomorrow . Wonder where he will be.

I would like to think that at some point in the future, the two of them could be reconciled with the rest of the family. It would take time, and the rebuilding of trust, but I would like to think there is still hope. I can’t imagine not being close with my sister.

I think a huge piece of the puzzle is unknown to us at this point. They can delay the book, but if there are more explosive accusations published, I'd say it's all over for the family relationships.

I can't imagine Charles ruling well into his 90's like his mom. He already looks so sickly to me. Those sausage fingers tell a story.

When you write your wedding invitations, Christmas cards etc., how do you address the envelopes to a married couple? And to a divorced woman who continues to use her ex husband’s name? And to a widow?

I do wish that the media would stop using their long lenses to get photographs of the teary Royals.

I heard (and that's only a rumor) that the delay is so he can add/edit parts to reflect the Queen's passing, possibly even adding chapters for the funeral.

If he's respectful, I'm okay with that. If it's a tell all worthy of the National Enquirer, no thanks.

I assume that Penguin Books has discussed with Harry 'what happens if...' and 'how does that influence...'

It is a multi-book deal and I seem to remember they said one book was planned before the queen's passing and at least one after. My fear is that when signing, Harry said 'oh we just delay by x amount of time', and that he didn't foresee how he would feel after the passing of his grandmother, how feelings about his father, his brother and the institution. That might have changed by now. Or at least it will change the reaction. Bashing Camilla when she was just the Duchess of Cornwall is one thing. Bashing the Queen consort is another.

I hope for Harry that he have taken this into consideration and that there is some kind of back-out-clause in his contract.

I just read that Charles and Camilla are having a planned day off tomorrow. Both are at the country Estates. Didn’t realize she still kept her own private home that she bought after her divorce. I think they both need a really good nap. Anne too. Keep in mind these people are in their 70s. Even the procession today the walk like that and then having to stand at Westminster that alone is a physical toll.

They have a few days to rest and relax before the funeral, with very few brief public engagements. Both Charles and Anne (and Camilla) deserve the break.

I have seen loads of articles noticing the hand holding, but where are the articles that criticize Harry and Meghan for it in a 'gee, that was wrong way'? Most articles are observant 'Harry & Meghan hold hands', 'Kate looks sad', 'Lady Louise curtseys'.
