Has anyone tried Queasy beads? They are supposed to work like Sea bands but are more stylish. I was wondering if they worked? It seems you measure your wrist for a proper fit? Since they are beads I was wondering if they are uncomfortable to wear? We cruised in 2012 when my kids were younger and I hear sometimes sea sickness hits more as you get older (they will be 16 & 11) so I wanted to maybe pick these up as a just in case they get sea sick and also for me : ).

I know nothing about them but am very interested in any replies. For the first time this year I used the Sea Bands on the rides at DW that I normally shy away from and they were a success for me. I didn't attempt Star Tours/Mission Space because of no interest but they were successful on the other rides (especially FOP) and on a boat trip I took on the FL Coast afterwards.

Funny you should bring up stylish because on the boat I did feel a little uncomfortable as the other people looked at my wrists. I'm definitely going to look up the Queasy beads and read any replies and I thank you for posting this.

I haven't heard of those, but ginger candy with real ginger, not just ginger flavor helps me when I start to feel queasy.

Scopolamine patches and ginger candy do wonders when the beads and bracelets have failed.

I got these after my first cruise. I only felt a little “off” the first evening, but for future cruises I figured I would try them to see if they helped (and I hate the look of sea bands). I ended up trying them before our 2nd cruise because I had a lot of nausea and I think they helped. Now whether or not it was all in my head, I have no idea.

So I wore them on my 2nd cruise for the first night and felt fine. Seas were not very rough though so who knows if they actually did anything. Mine are tan and barely noticeable. I don’t find them uncomfortable. I will continue to wear them just in case for the first evening or if seas get bad. I don’t think they were very expensive so it can’t hurt to try!

It's all placebo, so it'll work as well as the bands which are also a placebo. I'll sell you magic beans if you'd like.

Not really. The effects of P6 acupressure have been pretty well studied. While the placebo effect tends to show benefits as well, Google Scholar has hundreds of research articles with double-blind studies showing significantly higher effects among the treatment groups.

I checked on Amazon and it looks like they are between $36-$45 per pair, which seems a little pricey to me, but if they work for you, may be well worth the price.

I got mine directly from the maker’s website, and they are pretty plain (no fancy crystal or metal beads) and I think they were closer to $30. Definitely more than sea bands but it is worth it to me not to look like I’m wearing sweatbands from the 80’s.

If I ever got motion sickness when not on a ship I would rely on something stronger, but for the very mild effects I had it seems to do the trick. I also bring ginger chews and Bonine but have never had to use them.

Did zip for me. So doesn't work for everyone for sure. Dramamine works.

While it is true that they don't work for everyone, I have found that when they don't work for me it is usually because they aren't quite in the right position and adjusting them makes them work. However, I do have some friends they don't work for at all or only very very little, no matter how much adjusting is done [and oh, they have tried].

OP, we use the original Sea-Bands. They have the clinical studies to back them up, which the knock-offs and many of the alternative styles do not. They aren't attractive, but they work for many people [unless as noted above you fall into the group they don't work for].

For me, they work well themselves for many situations. For cruising, I have to use them plus Dramamine Less Drowsy (meclizine) plus TummyDrops ginger drops plus ginger ale plus ginger snap cookies. For me, that combined gets the motion sickness down to what I would characterize as a level of "present but only annoying, not interfering with function". If needed I add original Dramamine, but that makes me severely drowsy so I try to reserve that for when I really need it.

Scop patches are a lifesaver for me when I chase tuna on smaller boats. Just keep in mind that each patch lasts @ 2 days and are prescription-only, so plan accordingly.
