Do we have to use a quart size ziplock bag or can we use a different bag (toiletry bag) as long as it is 3.4 ounces or less when flying southwest and carrying our bags on? Also do they need to be removed from carry on? I am reading different things online. TIA

TSA may give you issues if you use anything larger. Get some quart size bags and zip right through security. They need to be removed from the carry on and placed in a bin.

It's supposed to be a quart-sized zip lock bag. You can try to use another bag, but if you get a picky TSA agent, the bag and it's contents will go in the trash.

As long as the toiletry bag is clear, zips at the top, and quart size or smaller, you should be able to use it. I used to have a small clear toiletry bag that was basically a strong plastic bag that was similar to a quart size baggie that I would use. The top was an actual zipper and the material was stronger so I did not have to worry as much about the bag breaking. You can find these in most travel section.

As the others have stated, the quart sized item has to be removed. I usually put this at the top or on the outside of my carry on baggage.

I have a Vera Bradey 311 bag and dh uses an Eagle Creek bag. Both are see though and quart size or smaller.

Never had any issues with them.

It has to be a clear bag, no larger than qt size. Most of the time, it has to be removed from the carry on bag and placed in the bin. If you have TSA PreCheck, then the baggie can stay in the carry on bag.
