Do I need to take these out of our carry-on bags and put them in the bin or do we leave them in our carry-on? I know I need to take out and declare our liquid medications that are over the 3 oz. but not sure on the items in the quart size bag.:confused3

The 1 qt. ziploc has to come out of your carry-on and go into the bin with your shoes, jackets, etc.

Everything liquid should be in containers of 3 oz or less and they all should be in one quart size ziploc bag. You probably will have to take the bag out of your carry on.

You'll need to take them out and run them through the machine seperate from your carry-on. I think the tray was big enough that I put the bag in one next to my shoes.

Next flight, I just need to remember to wear shoes that easy to remove and put back on and have our kids do the same.

You should take the baggie out, but I have mistakenly left it in, and nothing happened.

It may depend on the airport. Last time I flew out of Philadelphia, they had a TSA employee at a table just before you got into the line for security. You had to take your quart bag out and give it to them, and they inspected the contents of the bag. Then you had to put the bag in the bin with shoes, etc., and run it through the scanner.

I just flew last month for the first time since the liquid and gel bans. I was a nervous wreck with what had to go in the bag, what we couldn't take, etc. I even called the FAA once to ask a question. And we were flying out of Atlanta which is the busiest airport in the world.

I shouldn't have panicked at all. I should have listened to my husband that we were fine. Just take the bag out of your carry on, put it into the bin, run the bin(s) through the scanners and you are done. Just note that you will probably have to have ore than one bin if you have a couple of carryons. I had no idea that you even needed a bin!

After you get through security, take your time getting your stuff back together. I was trying to hurry off to the side and the guard told me to just take my time since I wasn't in the way. Relax and enjoy your flight.

Your lucky. My boss forgot once and they saw it through the x-ray and made him go all the way back to the end of the security line with his baggie! And without his shoes, which he had already taken off but not had time to put back on! You would have thought they would have just put the baggie back through the x-ray machine.

Yeah, I know I was lucky. It was just stupid of me to forget to pull it out. I thought about it later, when I was getting on the plane, and almost turned around and brought it to the FA's attention, but then I thought how stupid THAT would be, slowing everyone down over my ignorance. I just hope it was a case of "we see it, but we're letting this one go", and not something getting past TSA.

I've already told hubby about the bag issue. We may decide to just pack it all in our checked luggage. We'll have to wait and see.

As for shoes...that's why Crocs are great. Easy on and off at the airport and definitely no metal.
