We have a really good mice guy that comes in. Not exactly sure what he does but whatever it is, it takes care of them for a good, long time. Thanks for the reminder it might be time to have him come in to check for activity and do whatever it is that he does to keep them out for the winter. I know he puts bait around (which is safe for the dogs as it’s in a receptacle, which they eat and then bring back to their nest). He also had an assistant come in and put steele wool in any crevices that could be entry points as they can’t chew through it. We have a crawl space and that’s where they seem to get in.

Not sure if I mentioned here we had a rat last year! Scared the dickens out of me, I actually screamed bloody murder when I saw it! And ran! 🤯 Put in a STAT call to our mouse guy and he came out and looked around (no rat activity), told us what to do. DH caught it with a trap by our outdoor barrels. Turns out our neighbors down the street who have a gross yard with old cars, and goats and ducks, etc., gave them a nice place to live and reproduce, and one brave one made its way over here. We haven’t seen any more but that freaked me out. The neighbors between us have it worse. People need to clean up their crap! I did speak to someone about it and there’s not a lot they can do but I think they might’ve sent someone by there, not sure. I did spread word around that everyone needs to cover their trash cans and whatnot so as not to give them a food source. Unfortunately the barnyard animals in the neighborhood are a perfect spot for them to get food and old cars hold their nests, etc.

Rodents freak me out, unless they’re little, cute, fuzzy, and invited to live with us. (That’s a story for another day.)

I got a new reclining chair this spring too when we redid our floors. Got a new sectional, as well. I love them both. I got the chair on Overstock, believe it or not! (And the sofa at Macy’s.) Wasn’t sure how the quality would be as it was quite affordable, but we’ve been happy with it. DH and I take turns sitting in it each night. It’s nice getting new furniture once in a while. Last time for us had been at least ten years ago, probably more, and then the sectional was from a second hand store. I needed a certain size and found it there. It worked for a while but with a lot of use it got haggard looking as it was a cream colored leather. I was a little sad when the junk guy was hauling it away.

DH and I cleaned out the bathroom closet this past weekend. What a job! Took us several hours. I kept buying things as I could never find them. Well, we found all of them. Must’ve had 30 bars of soap if not more. 🤣 And lots of other things. But all sorted through now and nice and spacious in there again. The one problem I’m having now is sheets. I can’t remember which sheets go to which bed, and we have various sizes of sleep surfaces throughout the house between beds and sleep sofas. I have no idea what’s what. I guess ideally I can buy some on sale or something and keep them in bags that are labeled for what they’re for. Will have to keep my eye out.

Thinking of all of you. Have a good Tuesday! 🐥

Sheets: In this house, now I have 3 full size beds. Prior, I've had a king bed, queen beds and a twin size in the teeny room.

The full sizes work at the moment as I'm quite comfortable and so is DD. DGD's share the 3rd full size when they are here, although sometimes one or the other will try to share with me or DD. We don't share overnight but will put up with a short 'visit', lol.

Anyway, my most recent sheets (over a few years) are these from Costco online (instore carries only king and queen).

https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-680-thread-count-sheet-set.product.100511905.html

I only buy white. These are pima cotton which I prefer. And same size for all beds.

I used to buy from Bed Bath and Beyond in store and on sale. The fitted sheets would almost always get a hole in the feet area. So I have extra sheets I use for various extra functions.

30 bars of soap? I can't remember when the last time I had one bar of soap in this house. Now if you were talking Bath and Body shower gel, I probably have 30 bottles
And I'm on the end of a couple of Bath and Body Works bars. I do have a selection of hotel soaps to use up!

Hopefully that selection won't grow further, and isn't likely to as many hotels have gone to communal bottles which I dislike.

Used to find some soaps I enjoyed at Marshalls but haven't looked in a while. Not even when I took the grands there last week for a few outfits.

I now carry bar soap on the last few vacations.

I too have alot of Bath and Body Works lotions and washes. I also have various travel sizes of stuff I find at a good price. I have been slowly weeding out shampoos and conditioners that I have collected now that I only use one or 2 brands without the bad stuff. It is getting there. I have only about 5 bars of ivory soap and those I bring on vacation. A work in progress! Now the hall closet is a different story!

I found several bars of Ivory soap where the white packaging was cream colored. That’s how long we’ve had them, lol. Ivory soap was what we always used in my house growing up. (I bet you did too!) I switched to Dove when my babies were newborns and that’s what the hospital was using for their first baths. I liked the smell of it and how soft it made our skin, and the rest is history, been using it ever since. It keeps my face in good shape, and it feels like home now. 💓

@Pea-n-Me - I can probably beat the 30 bars of soap. I cleaned out the Hall closet about 2 years ago. I think the final tally was: at least 50 bars of soap, 40 bottles of shampoo, 30 bottles of body wash, 70 razors, 40 tubes of toothpaste, at least 40-50 toothbrushes and several containers of baby powder and body lotion. I would buy when there was a sale and I had coupons so I was getting everything almost free. However the closet wasn't really organized so I just kept buying. My mom looked at me and forbid me from buying ANYTHING for at least one year and she would check up on that. The withdrawal was hard; I was a coupon addict. I got it from my dad LOL. We have slowly whittled down the stockpile and my kids come and grab some things now and then. I won a basket at a raffle last month and gave the shampoos and conditioners to my daughter and granddaughters. They were 60 oz bottles. I don't use conditioner and it might take me over a year to use one bottle of the shampoo. I have short hair, they all have very long hair and could use it.
:lmao: This cracked me up! I could’ve said practically the same thing! Tons of razors and I could never find even one! Lots and lots of toothpaste and brushes and floss, all kinds of hair products I no longer use, etc., and a bunch of first aid items - you name it, we probably have it. I think the issue was that I would buy things, and DH would bury them in the closet to get them put away! In fairness, we had way too many sheets, blankets and towels in there too and they were obstructing the smaller things. (We put some of those in a bin up in the attic.) I’d done the second closet we have in that bathroom last year and under the sink probably last winter, so I kind of thought I had it under control. Obviously not, lol. We had a bag of the Disney H20 stuff that I couldn’t part with, but all the other hotel samples and soaps went into the donation bin. We still have a bunch of toiletries we use for trips in our storage room downstairs. I’ve kind of been in toiletry bag hell for a while, despite buying a new LLBean bag last year. I guess I just have too much stuff to bring and it won’t all fit into one bag - even the largest LLBean sells. But that’s for another day. We’ve been thinking about getting an Owner’s Locker to keep some of the things we lug back and forth down there so packing will be easier. It would probably require keeping lists though so we could replace whatever we run out of. Anyone else have an Owner’s Locker?

I am also soap particular. I like unscented Kroger body wash. Dad uses a Trader Joe's body wash. God willing by early next year when I am able to shower again, I will start again to try and find a shampoo that is truly friendly to my hair.

My craft activity has been postponed to later in the week that is fine. I did have a lovely visit with a new friend and supporter who is going to try to do all she can to gift me even more to the miracle I have gotten already. This would be beyond frosting on the cake so to speak.

Dad will be here within an hour :) I hope all of you are enjoying a sunny Tuesday. I will check back in later. Love the extra posts today. Means so much to me to hear more from all of you since all of you are so dear to me.

I was thinking this subject might make a good poll, but looks like slo beat me to it:

I cleaned my hall closet last year and made enough room for my full size Electrolux which is very old but has outlasted maybe 4 upright push vacs. Donated a huge selection of towels to my vet. Threw out so much outdated stuff. It is a small and cramped closet and if you stuff it you can't find anything. Took me a long time to really get that less is more.

Technically not, but we had a Rubbermaid bin at my folks' place in Florida for years. 😆They kept it in a closet for us, and it had some of our stuff, toys for DS, etc. We absolutely kept a list!

Good morning. Another cool morning at 58 with temps only going into the 60s. It is going to rain today which we do need so don't mind. I have been doing some Disney planning and I am only making my self crazy second guessing plans so I am going to take a break. I see Jeff and family doing their busy ways around the parks this week doing lots of rides well into the evening. That is their way of doing the parks but not my way any more. I asked Kenny if he was good with the character meal at 8:40 in Epcot and then to the monorail to go to MK. The DGS want to ride it so I added it in. I told him we wouldn't be at MK until later in the morning and he was OK with that. His style now with the kids is not to rush as much but maybe stay later into the evening leaving before fireworks. I feel better having talked with him.

Off to work. Have a good day.

I have 3 Disney trips planned for November, December and January/February.

The November trip is because I haven't been there for Food and Wine in a few years - I've lost track of when.

Anyway at some point I had found a deal on a 2 bedroom Hilton property offsite and booked it with Hilton points. It may have been a glitch but it never got canceled. I had also booked a 2 day weekend for this past February before my family trip and all was fine. The property had been partially updated but not completely. Anyway, it was absolutely clean and comfortable although quite a bit older with the higher end finishes from when it was built. Since then there have been a lot of good and bad reviews. Based on my experience both could be true. Anyway, it's 5 nights offsite for the equivalent in Hilton points of about $65 per night (for a 2 bedroom that sleeps 8.) No resort fee for the booking. No extra costs.

In addition I booked a night at BWV on my DVC points. Now, my friend who would have traveled with me, went back to work, at least until year's end - she needs to pay for a roof. She was not wanting to but needs the money.

I'm thinking of ditching the reservation and booking a few nights at Swan with my Marriott points. Need to do asap before reward nights disappear. I would move the nights earlier in November also, into the first week. This would be to put a little more space between my Dec/Xmas DVC trip.

My doctor says I can certainly travel. I will be doing therapy for September/October - I have my 24 sessions still available for the year. I will probably have to either rent an ECV or get a walker with a seat on it as my strength is definitely diminished at the moment. I tire much more quickly while walking. And the remedy for that is to walk more, lol. I still have nerve pain in one leg which I can tolerate. I'm not 100% where I was mobility wise just a few months ago.
And what I have now could increase with exercise or at least be maintained or could be blinding pain if something shifts. At least now I'm prepared and can deal with it.

Anyway, if I travel alone I will feel much more secure in a hotel such as Swan and at BWV where there are people around constantly if I need help - bellhops, valet, and room services. I would not have that to such a degree at the condo style 2 bedroom - I was pretty much on my own there in February. Occasionally I saw staff coming and going in the parking lot and that was it. They had a phone no one seemed to answer and if I'd needed anything I probably would have had to drive the reception area.

So, writing this out has made my decision. Thanks for listening! Comments are still welcome!

Edit: as a single I make few plans. I can usually find a restaurant that will serve me at a bar or table and with my annual pass even though some days need reservations (I think) I can usually manage. I know my way around and keep a small cooler handy with a bit of food in my room just in case. As far as lines for rides, I ride very few things, mostly enjoy wandering around.

Wednesday hugs to all :) I hope to hear from my friend who used to work here as a charge nurse about when she is coming to visit. As always it will be such a blessing to see my dad. I also have therapy today. I will talk with the activity director as well about when we will do my craft. Of course, I am praying to get just an incredible added miracle this week in terms of care. All is well. I am beyond blessed.

Slipping thread save! Evening love to all of you. My craft will be done Friday morning. That works out perfectly and will be fun. I had a very blessed day. Tomorrow. Praying still on an extra humongous miracle. Tomorrow I will get even stronger too.

My sweet regular morning CNA and I got to talk this afternoon. I have always had her support. It also made me so happy tonight to give my ice cream sandwich to a kind CNA who looked hot and tired. She has also been in my corner.

Sweet dreams 🐣❤️

Mona I sounds like things are going better for you and you are getting the help you need to get stronger.

Good morning. It is 55 here now with temps heading to around 70. Yesterday we had a work meeting in which we were told that our office will definitely be closed when the lease ends next June. We will all be work at home employees. Unfortunately 2 people will be laid off, the 2 who are facilities people. One I know was looking to retire as she is in her 70s. The other I know he is of the age where he can retire but not sure if he wants to. Any corporate events will be held at hotel conference rooms in the area but there aren't many of those. I usually don't go. That is a relief for me. Jeff sent a picture of the kids in Animal Kingdom. They are having a great time but it is so hot. I saw yesterday the area heat index of 100. And AK is a hot park. Today is a down day for them and probably a laundry day too.

Have a great day.

Thank you always, dear Snowysmom. I am so blessed indeed. I do pray by the end of tomorrow to have my yes to what will be an incomparable extra miracle that will fully pave the way for my full recovery. Prayers always of peace and extra work related to dear you. I am so glad your family is having fun with Mickey.

Happy Thursday to all.

Good cloudy morning. 68 now going to 75. Slight chance of rain, but it looks like it's going to.

I mowed after dinner, as did most of the other neighbors. It was cool, there was a slight breeze, and the bugs were minimal.

I just fed the cats and watered everything.

Summer texted me last night and said she'll stop by today to give me half the money she borrowed. Maybe she's finally learned that I'm her last line of help and if she doesn't follow through with what she says, she won't have that in an emergency either.

Have a good day everyone
