OMG! This is so not smart.

I find that really hard to believe.
I totally agree with you!-- I am half tempted to call a dealership, and ask them if it's true or not. I find it hard to believe that it is.
Judgement seems off there, Lynn! I hope she doesn’t lose it or get robbed!

Dazed
That is exactly what I told her. She is not always the most careful person. For example , when we went to the store yesterday, she told me I was sitting in the 'good seat', and I had no clue what she was talking about, the $40,000 was in an envelope under my seat!!!! I kind of yelled at her for not taking it straight home in the first place.

Lynn I have never heard of having to pay cash for a car with actual cash. Usually it is a bank check. I wonder if she misunderstood what she was told. Something does not sound right.

It has been a chilly day here starting out around 25. There is a chill in the air. I did some errands. I tried to get to an Italian bakery in my old town but the line was out into the street. So, Jeff's in laws will be getting Ghiaradelli double chocolate brownies for my dessert donation instead of Italian cookies. I will try one more bakery when go out to Kenny's on Friday AM. If I can get near that bakery I will see if they have the Italian cookie plates. I am making a one layer chocolate cake tomorrow and baking puff pastry tart shells on Friday. Then Saturday AM I will cook the instant pudding to put in the tarts with fruit. I need to cut out some time somewhere so instant pudding it is. If I have to make the brownies (from a mix) I will do that Friday night. I asked Kenny about going out for Mexican food Friday night and he is agreeable. I miss Friday night dinner with Chris so it will be nice to have dinner with Kenny. The gifts are wrapped and at Kenny's house. I just need to stuff the stockings when I get there Friday. We decided to get Chinese food when we are all together on Saturday. No one has to cook a meal. Then we have the desserts I made. And everyone will have the candy from their stockings. Sugar all around.

Have a good evening.

I am so heartbroken… Early this morning the love of my life passed on. Kris was in quite a bit of pain so I know it was time. I had time to prepare,as you all know, but, somehow that really didn’t ease the pain. I‘m typing and crying my eyes out. I don’t know who I am apart from “us”
I am so sorry to hear this. Hugs to you and prayers from all of us. All the preparation in the world can't make it change. It's not fair that he didn't make it through Christmas and the wedding, but no one would have wanted him to suffer to be there. Please do what you need to get done and come back when you can to cry with us. We understand.

I was up early with Dolly again this morning,
She's so cute! I was up w/ our pups early this AM as well. I'm feeling it now. I really hope they decide to sleep until at least 5 tomorrow morning.
Let the wrapping begin
Cookie baking done.

I haven't started either, but intend to tomorrow. I've got choc chip cookies, snickerdoodles & peanut butter blossoms to make, as well as candied almonds. First with the wrapping, then with the baking!
Which reminds me, I need tape.
I thought you guys would appreciate this article about a “Christmas Letter” (with TMI). :lmao:
I read that this morning - 500 letters! That's a lot, I'd be mortified!

Well we went off and finished our Christmas shopping. Now I've got to sort thru it all and get it wrapped.

Looks like a lot of folks are going to get walloped by this storm system. Looks like we will be getting mostly rain & wind, possibly a bit of ice/snow/sleet at the tail end of it on Friday and then a lot of wind and the brutal cold so many others are also expecting. Our high on Saturday is 21, although it looks like a of places will be a fair bit colder! It's putting a bit of a kink in our Saturday plans which were to go for a nice, long walk/hike somewhere. I'm okay out in the cold - but super cold & high winds? It's the wind that knocks it out of me, so no thanks. We are working on something else to do with ourselves Saturday morning...we'll come up with something I'm sure.

Dinner never really panned out, and now at 7:15 I'm hungry. I think I'll go forage thru the fridge -

I made those rolo treats, some with pecans and when I ran out of nuts, i made them into little pretzel sandwiches. Then i made sugar cookies...drop, cut outs and some with the little round sprinkles... love those. I also made snickdoodles but I'm not happy with how they came out. Not sure what went wrong as I used the same recipe as I usually do and all my ingredients were fresh. Oh well...they still taste good. **Oh man...just double checked the recipe and I'm pretty sure I used baking soda instead of powder....yikes. LOL Oh well...like I said they still taste good enough.

Tomorrow I'll make rice krispie treats...everyone LOVES my rice krispie treats and then I have a cake to make for Christmas eve, which I'll probably do Friday. I decided to skip the double chocolate chip cookies this year as we already have a lot. I'm done for today and I want to put the kitchen aid mixer away...I can make the cake with the hand mixer.

Now I really need to get a crack on wrapping and I really don't want to...lol

It's been a busy day.

At noon time I decided to take some flowers and a card next door for my neighbor. The husband is mid eighties, active and very well centered. The wife, my long time friend, is now suffering some dementia. I rang the bell and waited because they always check before they open the door. Soon I saw her in a 2nd floor window and I waved hello. She recognized me and came down to unlock the door.

The alarm was set and began 'talking'. She did not know how to shut it off and turns out husband was in the bath! Eventually the phone started ringing from the alarm company, but I couldn't see a phone to answer. I could see the call coming in through their TV. Phone stopped ringing, husband called out to me the number to stop the alarm and that part was taken care of. Meanwhile, he was trying to call the alarm company to stop emergency services from getting dispatched.

Too late, the police arrived first so I stepped out to let them know nobody was needed, but, they needed to see the homeowner and stepped inside to make sure they were okay. Even though I wasn't a danger I'm happy to see they wouldn't depart until they saw everyone was okay.

What was meant to be a 5-10 minute delivery of a small token (I know my friend loves flowers) turned into a 2 hour visit/adventure.

Moving on, I then went grocery shopping for all the 'little things' I might want over the holiday, so I wouldn't have to be out there as the crowds get more intense. Came home and had a pre dinner of ice cream. Than DD fixed a nice dinner.

Yesterday we did our gift deliveries. Now all that's left is dinner at other friends house on Xmas day, and New Years with son and family.

No snow expected here. It will get to 51 on Friday plus rain/wind tomorrow and Friday and then the cold nights will come.

Oh well...like I said they still taste good enough.
Update....they do NOT taste good enough. LOL I had one earlier and it tasted fine, then DD tried one and said it tasted weird...I tried it and she was right....so gross. Dumped them in the trash and I think I need to remake them tomorrow since they are DDs favorite.

Hugs to each of extra this evening with love. Sweet dreams wishes, of course, always, too. I did read all of your posts since this morning. Thank you all forever for sharing, allowing us to support you, and care, being in touch! I truly am so thankful to God for my Quacker family. I finished wrapping dad's Christmas gifts and making his card. As a reminder that goes along with this, please always check perishable food expiration dates! We learned this ourselves earlier this year the hard way and did so again this afternoon. One of two Christmas surprises a friend had gotten on my behalf for my dad, I realized when starting to wrap it that it had expired back in September :scared1:Hard call to tell my dear friend what happened. She was most understanding and texted me her Ralph's store purchase information so dad can do an exchange next week. I don't want to do this until after Christmas to keep the other gift a surprise to dad. Dad did say he will definitely enjoy a non-expired version of this product so that made me smile. all good. A definite timely reminder!

Have a good night everyone. I would appreciate your dentist visit prayers for dad in the morning. His appointment is at 9. Thank you so much:grouphug:

Good evening everyone. Finally got through all the posts over the last week and a half.

First I want to offer my condolences to DazedX3. I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I'm praying for you and your family.

I can hardly believe that Christmas is two weeks from today. I'm trying really hard to find the blessings and positives, as I tell myself that even in the darkest of days, there is always something to be thankful for, even if it seems like a very tiny something.
Yes! I find myself telling myself that it could be worse.
Praise, praise extra to God, dear Kirby! Indeed, there is joy and good in all. I was thinking last night of these two passages of Scripture.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28 NKJV)

Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:8-10) He is with all of you forever! Each of us are sure here, too with love.
Thank you Mona for the scriptures! There were just what I needed to read.
If they are going to practically not eat, or not like anything I am making, then what is the sense in having them for dinner?
We go through this every time with my sister.

Better fix some dinner. I defrosted tuna steaks and will make Nathan's French Fries. You all got me to try them. And a vegetable.
I've been looking for Nathans French Fries but haven't found them so far. I have found Nathan's Onion Rings. Are they good?
Not happy about the winner :(
I was okay with Gabbler winning. I thought that it was really nice of him to donate the money instead of keeping it. Wouldn't have minded if Owen or Jesse had won either. Wasn't fond of the girl in the final three.

Then it's picking out a wall color. Don wants beige or gray (ick), but I am thinking a very light sage green. I would have gone with blue, but the kitchen is blue, and I don't want the same color again.
When we built our house we just went with an eggshell color. We probably lived in it for 12 years before we decided to add some color. I had spots of color all over the office, family room and kitchen for a little over a year before deciding on a color. It became a joke in the family. My office is still not painted, a lot of office stuff that will have to be moved. But my kitchen is a taupe green as is the family room. The green is broken up with a wall or two painted a taupe tan. I love it, makes me feel good inside.
Kenny's court date went as well as it could. He is happy with the outcome.
So glad to hear!
I will be carefully looking at Christmas movies this weekend hoping to find a good one to record. Any suggestions? :)
I found one on Netflix last weekend, The Noel Diary. The male lead was Justin Hartley.

The pictures are lovely!

If something happens to her, they are going to be in a world of learning very quickly to do it themselves!
Don't be surprised if they don't come knocking on your door.

Wow, did I get a lot of good deals at the PA store.
An 18 count carton of eggs came down 30 cents at Kroger. Whoo hoo!

I thought you guys would appreciate this article about a “Christmas Letter” (with TMI). :lmao:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/...DIVORCE-Christmas-letter-sent-500-people.html
That is funny! I have a friend who writes a Christmas poem to send out each year. She throws her family under the bus!

I think that I am ready for Christmas. The GK's are supposed to be with their dad but every time DD calls to talk to them he says they are unavailable, they are with their stepmother. DD is sending an email to her attorney because she is supposed to be able to talk to them. He will not give her his wife's cell number so she can. We're wondering why he is not with them and where they are.

We're expecting a blast of colder weather beginning tomorrow. Down in the teens Thursday and Friday night. It will be back in the 50's on Christmas. Last year it was in the 80's for Christmas.

DS is doing well. He's been through his first round of maintenance chemo. The transplant doctor told him that all looks good and they are on schedule for a stem cell transplant in about six-eight weeks. When we left to go down to Houston Sunday a week ago he had a cough. Each time he had blood work/chemo last week he told them he had a cough. Finally on Friday he was tested for the flu, Covid and RSV. He tested positive for Covid. His doctor was so upset with the staff for not testing him sooner. DS got Covid medicine but we feel like he probably had it at the beginning of the week. I never got it, neither did his MIL who was with him at the end of the week. DS never had any bad symptoms, just a cough, thank God. He is fine now, feels pretty good, just get tired easily.

@Kirby Good news about the transplant. I hope your DS feels better soon from covid.

I have been thinking of dazedx3. Words really can't express the sadness. So very difficult to lose your husband but this time of year is especially tough.

We are getting the warm end of the storm with rain and wind. I guess I will be driving to Kenny's tomorrow morning in the rain. Better than snow!

Time to start work then into the office once it gets lighter out.

Have a good day.

I've been looking for Nathans French Fries but haven't found them so far. I have found Nathan's Onion Rings. Are they good?
Yes!

Good morning all-
It’s 35 here, so not that bad. The wind has really picked up though.
I’m ready for Friday night to get here- then whether I’m ready or not I can relax & start to enjoy the holiday.

Have a good night everyone. I would appreciate your dentist visit prayers for dad in the morning. His appointment is at 9. Thank you so much:grouphug:

That's funny - I have the dentist today too! Hopefully we both get good "report cards". :teeth:

:scared1: on the Christmas letter.

Besides the dentist today, we plan to go sort the final batch of toys at the lodge. I'm glad the storm hasn't hit here yet!

Good morning.

Quick check in for me. I need to run up to the hardware store and get some salt. Our bad weather starts around dinner time today and will continue into tomorrow morning. Looks like we'll be having a white Xmas this year.

Ran to the grocery store yesterday after work. I decided to bake some more cookies for Xmas Eve. I'll take the leftover cookies to work on Xmas Day.

I get to watch Mia today!

I took the dogs for a car ride last night to look at Xmas lights. When we were done, I stopped at Starbucks to get them both pup-cups. It was their little Xmas treat.

Have a great day!

Quick reply before I get back to wrapping to finish where we left off last night.

Cold drizzle. Icy in northern part of the county. Supposed to warm above freezing so plan to go to the grocery store for hopefully the last time before Christmas. Need to stop at library to get a hold.

@Judique, that reminds me a similar story. When my mom was first living in a retirement community and Andrew was about 9 yo, we were visiting. He was in the bathroom and noticed a string on the wall near the toilet, so he pulled it. Before we knew it, security was at the door to see if my mother was ok. It was funny. They said it happened a lot. Sometimes residents cats played with the string and pulled it.

I am so happy to hear SW replaced the books at least.
They actually called the library first to see if I really had to pay for them.

I've been looking for Nathans French Fries but haven't found them so far. I have found Nathan's Onion Rings. Are they good?
Jack liked them. I thought they were soggy and prefer Ore Ida.

An 18 count carton of eggs came down 30 cents at Kroger.
Now that is a deal.

I took the dogs for a car ride last to look at Xmas lights.
Did they enjoy them? :rotfl2:

Good snowy morning. Temp here now is 32. We have about 2 inches now, calling for it turning to freezing rain and then rain. High wind warnings overnite into tomorrow. High temp on Saturday will be 15 with a low of 10 and only 20 on Sunday with a low of 6. At least it will be 38 tomorrow so some of this will melt before the cold snap. I shoveled paths around the house, the steps, and a path over to both sheds so I could feed the cats, and put a bag of trash in the barrel in the other, and that was it so far. Am hoping rain comes and takes care of the rest of it.

@Kirby Glad to hear your son is doing better, sorry he got Covid though.

@footballmouse It really does look like your furbaby's are intently looking at the Christmas lights, too cute!

No plans for the day, probably just hibernate and watch Disney+ . I am enjoying it so far. We watched all of The Santa Clauses, and really liked it, but then again I loved all of the Santa Clause movies. I actually liked this series better, it was much funnier. Don is going to watch Mandalorian. At least there's not much new on cable this weekend, so we don't have to play catch up on shows.

Have a nice morning, stay safe if you are in the storms path.
