Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good Saturday morning to all Quackers.

@lynxstch you always wear me out with your ambition! The house we moved to has LOTS of landscaping, most that has been a bit abandoned in the last few years. I have no idea what I'm actually going to do with all the space. For the most part I'm prob going to leave it alone until next spring. A kid (he's 21) that graduated with my nephew does lawn care and such, so I might get a hold of him and see if he can give me some ideas on what to do.

@dazedx3 so glad your vacation plans have come together.

@Judique sounds like you will have a fun and busy time with the grandkids. They are fortunate to have you close.

@Snowysmom I hope you have a nice visit with Joe and can also get some questions answered that need to be taken care of. He is blessed to have you and your sons. As always, continued prayers to you as you keeping putting one foot in front of the other.

@Pea-n-Me LOVE all the pictures. Your meals always look so delicious. Mine usually resemble the "failed" pictures of a nailed it or failed it challenge. I'm hoping once we get into a real routine now that the ruling is out, I can meal plan a bit and try a few new things. Thanks too as always for the great care you give all your patients.

@footballmouse Hope you are enjoying your Weeknd of freedom.

@Breezy_Carol Thanks for the heads up on the cookies. I will have to save those for a day when my kids are not here. My husband will have them for 7 days here before school starts at some point. I have never in my life not seen my kids for that long. I am not sure how I will make it. @Kirby I have no idea how your daughter does it for such long stretches when the kids have to be with their day. Any updates from her new lawyer?

Thanks to all again for your prayers during all of this mess. We have a ways to go, but a big step forward has def. been taken.

Enjoy the weekend all.

@Pea-n-Me The Cape traffic is a mess but it does move even if it is slow. This our 3rd week of going to the South Shore on the weekend but it is the only time we can go as we all work. I wish we could do a weekday. It will be better when summer vacations are done.
Yeah. We live it, unfortunately. It started last night, everything was a mess.

Happy Saturday everyone from cooler at the moment CA. It's rather overcast this morning. It is hard to believe August will soon be here. Recording right now Coming Home for Christmas. Dad and I have begun recording the Price is Right again. The show is absolutely not the same since Bob Barker left and is even more odd these pandemic days. It still can be fun to watch. Nice to have something different on 📺

We didn't buy a lottery ticket we didn't win that jackpot. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:21 NKKV) I sincerely give humble thanks each day my true Treasure--Jesus! I am beyond rich indeed. By His Grace, I am of health and of spirit, mind, so is my beloved dad, and He has also continued to keep all of you, my dear Quacker family in my life. What a blessing! :grouphug:🐥

:hug:and thank you Bobbiwoz for doing that! What a blessing for both you and your family and the children especially to get to meet one another :)

:thanks:for your donation to the shelter, Judique. Have fun with your grandkids :)

I would love to help you and your friend with the school, PollyannaMom! 🏫 Years ago I visited a charter school. I loved the idea but the reality was that to me it felt like any other typical school! I would so enjoy being able to truly give input on one. The same with a church children's ministry.

Wow, your stepson and his family had quite an adventure, Lynn! When I was a kid, for a time, I thought visiting with my grandpa ballparks ⚾ in as many states as we could would be awesome. That never happened. Later, I thought it would be enjoyable to travel some of Route 66 :car: Prayers all gets resolved with your trees and that you PLEASE, at last, get some rest and take care.

Wow, Snowysmom, you and Lynn both amaze me with your house cleaning, especially early, energy. Good for you! I'm glad you got your shopping 🛒done early while it (I pray) was a little cooler.🙏on your visit with Joe. Thank you for going to see him.
Pea, I think Lynn ought to have a cleanest house in town award! Wish you a good day and your doggie :dogdance: crew a good Saturday. Prayers for you for safe travels to come.

Amen, Frog! 🌸:grouphug:

Happy Saturday to All! I'll check back later.

Mona, I was just going to post to bring it up from the bottom. You beat me to it

Sunny and 86 outside. I did 2 loads of laundry, defrosted chicken wings for dinner, and ribs for tomorrow nite
Then did beauty routine in the bathtub, closed the door, tired of the cats coming in to see what is going on. 2 of them tend to sit on the side of the tub, and one of them is going to fall in one of these days, and I don't want to be in the water when they do!!
Off to put corn on to cook, slice some tomatoes, and cut up the sugar baby watermelon

Have a nice evening everyone

Back from the south shore. The drive was slow but not too bad, it moved. Joe is not doing well. He was dozing when we got there but he woke up and talked a bit. But we could see he is more frail, thinner, and more confused. We really did not feel like we should question him about issues. He did say he was eating a bit but I suspect not too much. He got up to go to the bathroom and even with using the walker and assistance from the nurse he was very slow and we could see it was difficult for him. It is so sad to see. He told the nurse to tell us he could not visit anymore and to please come back another time. So we left. We went to his apt to get mail and find some more paperwork. We were successful. We cleaned out his fridge of anything that will smell when it goes bad. At the apt we were looking in a cabinet and an envelope of pictures was on top. The picture sticking out was one of Chris and me. I look at it as a sign that Chris is happy we are helping Joe as much as we are able to right now.

Older DS and I went to lunch in Quincy which is part of Chris' old stomping ground. He grew up in Braintree and moved to Weymouth. He had family in Quincy and his family shopped in Quincy too. When we drive through Braintree to see Joe or go to his apt I get a bit sad as Chris and I would go for a ride to the area sometimes and he would show me places he lived or worked or visited as well as schools and libraries. I know all the places and could tell my DSs all about them. The hospice Joe is in is only a short distance from South Braintree Square where Chris first lived as a child. So many memories. Then DS came back to the condo and we took a walk together and talked. He just left a bit ago and I am lonely. I love it when they are around. Tomorrow I will most likely go to see younger DS and grandkids. If he tests negative tomorrow it is a go. So far, so good.

Have a good evening.

Happy Saturday.

Again. I tried to post yesterday and my stupid phone refreshed and I lost it all....quotes and all. UGH!!!

All i can remember is...YAY @frog3101 I'm so happy for you. Continued prayers for you and the kids.

Still testing negative and DD is finally feeling better. Yay!

DH stayed one night with my dad and then last night he went to our friends and will stay there the rest of the weekend. He stopped by yesterday after work to do some laundry(in the garage) and we sat across from each other on the back patio. He came back this morning with a coffee and a ham and cheese croissant for me. We hung out for a little bit and then he headed back over to our friends. He's going to help with some yard work today to thank them for letting him stay. LoL

No winning tickets for us either, which is a bummer...lol I told DH I'd be happy with just $1M....heck, I wouldn't even mind being a couple-hundred thousand-aire... I would want to pay off our house and give it a good remodel to update everything. Build my dad his own space (he would need a little house and a garage or workshop) in the backyard and then just sell the other house. It would be nice to be completely debt free.

Making some egg salad for DD so I'll be back later.

Thanks, Lynn :) Lol, your cats remind me of PollyannaMom's mischievous :cat:Sugar baby🍉sounds sweet and summery. Enjoy, my friend.

:grouphug:dear Snowysmom. Prayers you know that you are absolutely bringing comfort and peace to Joe. Continued health prayers for all of you! So glad you and your DS got to go to lunch.

Hooray, AuntieMe3, great update. Keeping you in prayer, that is for sure.

No mail here yet today. Waiting on one book to come. I hope each of you got something fun by the 💌🐴

Have a good evening, friends.

Good Saturday evening all! :sunny:

Really nice day today weatherwise. Got the grass cut, edged, swept the sidewalks, filled the bird feeder and cleaned out the bird bath and filled it, 2 1/2 hours later I was able to get a shower and feel clean again. Yesterday at the gym was leg & butt day and I am definitely feeling it. Once I got done with all the yard work I sat down and omg did it hurt getting back up.😵‍💫

I was up at 3am, for whatever reason. Mowed most of the front yard before tiring out;
Speaking up cutting the grass, this made me laugh! I hope you didn't cut your grass at 3 am!!!!:D

I didn't do a darn thing today after working in the yard. It really sucks when your kids grow up and now have their own lives. Some friends went to the Bengals training day 🏈 today but I wasn't really interested. It just really stinks not having someone to do things with. Guess I'm having a little pity party for myself, which is very unusual for me. 🤨

Hopefully Ds1 will be at his new house tomorrow so that I can stop down. I'll probably swing by Sam's on the way home. Don't really need anything but at least it's something to do. I did buy the some cute small wooden signs for their new house. One says "Bless the house" and the other one says "Home Sweet Home", I found those at the gift shop at work the other day. I decided I would also get a cute yard flag to put in the landscape and then a big American flag for the house 🇺🇸. He also mentioned a couple of weeks ago that he liked the scent that I had in the house, it was lilac, so I'll grab him a candle with that scent. All that should make a nice house warming basket.

Frog - I'm so glad the decision was in your favor. That was probably so much stress lifted from you.

That's all for me. The Reds game just started so I'll watch that ⚾. Have a great rest of the night!

Speaking up cutting the grass, this made me laugh! I hope you didn't cut your grass at 3 am!!!!:D
Hah, no...I played on my computer until DH was up at 8. I totally get the 'no one wants to play' thing; DS wants nothing to do with us, except money and rides. DD#1 is so busy with her life, I'm lucky if we talk once a month; DD#2 used to call me all the time, but now that she's back to work and making friends in her area, she has less time for mom. Ah well; now I don't need to feel guilty for not going to visit and instead going away to Belize with DH!

I got...one number on all 6 tickets, lol. 😭

I finished mowing the side yard and the back yard just a few minutes ago; decided to get it out of the way. DS will weedwack tomorrow. DH and I went to look for some things for our trip, and didn't find a single one at any of the stores we went to. So, we came home; I made pasta w/Italian sausage and sauce, garlic bread, and steamed veggies (peas for DS; broccoli/cauliflower/carrots for DH and I); and then we did some more online shopping. Short naps, and some watching shows online finished out the afternoon, lol. I'm not cooking dinner, since I made lunch; I figure that the guys are both adults, and if they are hungry, they know how to forage in the pantry and fridge, lol.

I'll catch up with everyone's posts tomorrow; I am ready to hit the hay already, lol.

I have never in my life not seen my kids for that long. I am not sure how I will make it.
You will get through it and become stronger.
@Kirby I have no idea how your daughter does it for such long stretches when the kids have to be with their day. Any updates from her new lawyer?
It has been hard on her. Each year is a little easier. If her ex would play fair and just do his part, it would be so much better. He didn't come in this weekend, tried to act like he was coming but we feel he wasn't planning on being here since he had just dropped Lil Joe off on Wednesday evening. It's hard on the kids because he won't tell DD when he is/isn't coming so DD has to get them ready and show up at the pick up/drop off point. Then when he doesn't show they want to know where he is and why he's not there. DD doesn't trash talk him to the kids, just says that maybe he had military duty or something. We've heard little comments from Lil Joe and it sounds like all is not going well in the ex's household.
Later, I thought it would be enjoyable to travel some of Route 66 :car:
I've wanted to do that, just the Oklahoma and Texas part. It would be fun though to start at the beginning up in Illinois and drive to California. We drove the part between the Grand Canyon and Kingman, AZ one year. We went to Las Vegas and rented a car to drive to the Grand Canyon and spend the night. The next day we returned to LV but drove on Route 66. Had I not be so sick with allergies (I found out on that trip how allergic to Cedar trees I was) I would have really enjoyed it. It was neat driving it but had wanted to stop at the little towns along the way, maybe eat lunch at one of the cafes. Needless to say we just kept on driving. Fortunately as soon as we got to LV, my sinuses cleared up and I felt almost back to normal.

DH finally was able to go to the farmers market with us today. DD picked up some watermelon and macaroons. DH got some of the beef jerky he really likes and I picked up some homemade dill pickles for DS. Then we stopped IHOP for breakfast. I tried their Country Breakfast bowl and really enjoyed it.

Didn't do much the rest of the day. Stripped the bed and put clean sheets on, washed and dried sheets and towels, cleaned the kitchen.

I'm hearing some thunder out there and as soon as I've said that it began to rain. Such a lovely gentle rain, so nice to hear. We've had some beautiful clouds today. I love looking at clouds.

Those are such thoughtful housewarming 🎁Footballmouse. Hug, to you, my friend. Sometimes, I think we all would just love someone to spend time with. I hope the Reds do well tonight ⚾Dad is not too happy because so far the Dodgers are losing. I honestly don't care other than I know he enjoys keeping up with the boys in blue so that makes it matter to me as well.

:hug:B&B, I certainly am relieved to hear you weren't cutting your grass at 3am! Sleep well 🛌

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear allergies impacted your trip, Kirby! Please let me know one day, God-willing, when Covid is over if ever you do come out to CA. I would sure love to mee you . Lil Joe (and all of you) sure don't need any of this especially from his dad. How awful and plain sad and wrong. 🙏❤️all the extra.

Wishing all of you sweet dreams.

Good morning. I have been out for a walk and it is cool and nice. Sat on the balcony for a bit with coffee and talked with Chris. Now I am going to do a bit of work to get ahead for tomorrow. Hopefully younger DS tests negative today so I can go see the grandkids. I got them jumping frogs which I know they will love. I got the baby a couple of onesies. One has Simba on it and says I just can't wait to be king. The other has dinosaurs. I love to buy baby clothes and he is probably the last baby between my 2 sons so I will splurge a bit.

Have a nice day.

Good morning. Feels sooo nice outside at 60 degrees. Sun is out now, but they are calling for 74 with strong storms after noontime. I picked more tomatoes, and some cukes. Squash are just not doing well at all this year :( Sister in law ended up in the ER last nite. Her leg was bothering her so much , she was afraid she had a blood clot (she didn't). I am sorry to say, but she's become an even worse hypochondriac since my BIL passed. Our niece has always been like that..no wonder between the 2 of them they spend half their time in Drs office's or hospitals

I was just sitting here scrolling through posts on the main page, and noticed that since March 20, when Tina created this thread..it has had Replies19K Views597K WOW,,that seems almost impossible to me. Almost 2 1/2 years already for our little thread. I am glad some of the 'original' Quackers are still here, and that we add new ones every now and then. I hope those that have left us, are doing well and enjoying life!

I fell asleep at midnite last night and slept till 7. Long time for me, guess I needed it. Had about 1/2 a headache last nite, and still have it, I am blaming the weather. At least it's nice enough to turn the ac off and open the windows for a change. Feels like week's since I have been able to do that. The master bedroom windows got opened earlier, and it took 3 of the cats exactly 45 seconds to figure it out. They were lined up sniffing at the air and watching birds in the front yard, lol

Going to dry rub some ribs for dinner. With baked potatoes and fresh tomatoes. We had corn last nite, and the night before,,so giving it a break. Too much corn doesn't agree with Mr L..but I have no problems with it. In the summer I could eat it every night, lol

@PollyannaMom I hear you on the 'cats in a basket of towels'. Mine especially like it if they are still warm from the dryer when I fold them. I did some yesterday, one of the cats was in the basket asleep when I went to bed last nite, and still in the same place this morning. Creatures of habit I guess

Have a nice morning all. Enjoy the last day of July :( Summer is going way way way too fast~

My grandmother was a hypochondriac. Growing up, we couldn't tell her when we were/had been sick. She would get sick too, never enough to go to the doctor/hospital though.

I'm not an original but I'm glad I joined you. Think I started posting that summer but not sure. Edited to add that I actually went back and looked and I joined August 1, 2020.

I wish I could do that. DH has told me the cedar trees in the yard next door is already bothering him and ragweed is due to begin soon.

The GK's love corn especially on the cob. They would eat it every day if we would let them.

Staying home from church today. Lil Joe may have chicken pox and I have been a little under the weather since yesterday afternoon.

We watched the new Buzz Lightyear movie last night on Plex. Have any of you seen it yet? DD and I thought the end was the best part of the movie.

Good morning everyone...or I guess afternoon for everyone but @flyingdumbo127 and I.

I tested again this morning and still negative. DD will test later today. Not sure how long she's considered contagious. :confused3 I miss my hubby. LOL One more night at our friends for him and then he's out of town for a few days for work. Hopefully he can come home by then.

I was soo tired last night but for some reason was fighting going to bed. I didn't get into bed until 11:30 maybe and zonked out as soon I my head hit the pillow.

Right after I posted yesterday, I took this picture...

...of a storming coming our way and not to long after the wind started blowing the sky opened up. It was sooo nice. We haven't had a good summer storm in soo long. Didn't last long enough though.

Hope you all have a nice Sunday. I'm sure I'll be back later.

Started writing this morning but stopped to make breakfast.

I’m pooped this morning, was kind of a long and emotional day yesterday. Went to a Celebration of Life for my BIL who passed last year. (Also ironically got caught in Cape traffic!) But beautiful day. Talking to my SIL this morning, last guests didn’t leave until late in the evening! So glad it was nice for their family.

Caprese salad we made got gobbled up, and it was a huge one in a long tray! I didn’t even have any cause we made one for ourselves (using the end pieces) so we’ll have that today (and I didn’t want to get tired of it). The balsamic glaze I’d picked up this time was Strawberry Balsamic. I bought three (great price) and tried it out first before using it, and it was good, and different. I might pick some up as XMas gifts to put in food baskets or something. They had them at Ocean State Job Lot in the food section if anyone has those stores near them and is interested in trying it. ($2.99 when I think they’re normally around $8.)

Had my coffee out on my screened porch this morning. Had to clean off some pollen first, but an easy job. I still have to get out there with the vacuum for some cobwebs, and now dog hair from the one who never stops shedding despite how much I brush him! Later made scrambled eggs, bacon and waffles (Eggo, not homemade) which were good, and then cleaned the kitchen and started the dishwasher. Finally have a chance to sit down. Probably going to have a quiet day today. I might even catch a nap. :rolleyes1 DS mentioned going out for a bite to eat tonight, not sure if we’ll do that or do the steak tips (which are vacuum sealed) and corn, we’ll have to play it by ear.

Enjoy the Sunday, everyone! 🐥
