Good morning DIS family! @Pea-n-Me they actually said warm compresses would be better than ice, will ask about that when I get there. They have no idea how the fracture happened, I am just glad that it's been diagnosed and they are aware of it before he goes to the rehab floor , which should be this morning according to Toni when I last talked to her around 4 yesterday. She was just waiting for ortho to sign off on it, which they did, as did infectious diseases and his cardiologist. I think he's hopeful, but also a little apprehensive, which I figure is pretty normal.

I slept soundly from 9:30 until 11:58 when the phone startled me awake. My niece had accidentally hit the call button on her phone and called me, lol. I was able to fall back asleep around 1 and slept till 4, so I should be good for the day, until I come home and take a nap.
Going to be 90 again today, but chance of storms this afternoon, which we need, everything is so dry again. My tomatoes are getting big already, can't wait for the first bite of a homegrown garden one!

Have a nice morning all..enjoy your weekend!!!

Whichever is more soothing. Glad you slept. Good luck today!

A happy Saturday morning hello to all. I’ve tried to keep up but, it’s been a busy and crazy week here.
Lynxstch- Sounds like things are finally moving in the right direction. Continued prayers for you and your husband.

Pea-Thanks for all your posts and ”inside” perspective. Ii admit, when I was pregnant, I took goodies to every single check-up, lab, etc. and made baskets of stuff for the Dr.s and nurses when I went to the hospital to deliver. (Pre-made the cookies and froze them so could pull them out when the time came, and also did prepackaged stuff, which would prob fly better in this era). They were always so great full and appreciative.

apirateslife-sounds like you are having a good summer with Josh and getting lots of activities in. Sometimes I think summer is busier than when school is in session, and I’m not sure how that’s possible. Showtime with Steve looks like a lot of fun.

sweatpeama-keep holing on, the tide will change

tazdev-can I send you my picture when you are done? What a great gift, but you definitely have your work cut out. Those type of gifts are a labor of love.

Has anyone had issue with their pages “jumping” while reading a thread. Lately I’ll be mid-read and the page just scrolls up/down on its own. I’m guessing it’s someone ad related? Regardless, it is annoying.

Off for another busy day, supposed to be low 80s but the humidity is creeping up as I type.

Pea, thank you for your thoughtful post. This time definitely has seen unexpected stress! We all need to take extra care to simply take care of ourselves. Prayers for your friend!

I second this. Thanks, Pea, for finding and posting that. It's so true!!

I do get that occasionally. I think it's when the add changes, and the new one is longer or shorter than the old one.

Just so everyone is aware,,I reported the HUGE ads to Webmaster Corey last nite. We should not be getting them, or at least not that BIG. I have adblocker running, which should be stopping all of them, but I get them everytime I am on here. Not sure if it's just the Community Board or all of them, as this is the only one I ever use. Currently, at this moment, I have 7 of them showing on this page, 2 huge ones and 5 smaller ones,,this is ridiculous!

I am home and not at the ER this morning. Yeah! (...for the moment, at least).

Do please keep DS in your prayers if you're so inclined. I think/hope he's going in the right direction, but he's still quite a ways from back to normal.

Continued prayers for your son. Lets all pray that he is indeed headed in the right direction!

Good morning.

Trying to catch up after being out all day yesterday having fun and sweating.

Started the day driving to the Metro station at New Carrollton. Met DS, DDIL, DD, DSIL, and both grands there. Tessa was so excited about seeing Aunt Jen, riding a train, and going to a museum. Took the train into Metro Center and DS, our tour guide and local DC expert, got us to Potbellys where we had a nice lunch of subs. Walked from there to the Museum and Natural History. It was a couple of long blocks and it was HOT. had to wait in a line to get in through security but it wasn't too bad. Once inside, all was good.

Both kids were very good while we were in there. So much to see. All the preserved animals, dinosaur skeletons, ocean exhibit, and gems and minerals. Both kids were interested. We stayed there about 2.5 hours. Left there and walked over to the mall. Found a nice shady shot and let the kids be free for a while. Carter had been in the front pack or stroller a lot of the day and needed to crawl.

Then everyone but DDIL, who stayed in the shade with a water bottle, walked to the Washington Monument. From there we could see the White House, Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, and WWII Memorial. Tessa wanted to see the fountains at the WWII Memorial so DS headed back to his wife and the 6 of us continued on. Did I mention it was HOT - 93 I think., and little shade. Tessa got to put her feet in the fountain, which was allowed, and I should have joined her. Then we walked back to DS and DDIL at the Smithsonian Metro stop, the closest, for a total walk, after the museum, of about 2 miles.

Got the Metro back to New Carrollton. It felt so good to sit in the air conditioned train. At New Carrollton, we each got into our cars and drove to the Calvert Brewing Company, about 25 minutes away. We found 2 tables off by themselves in an area that we took over for the kids. Got our very good beers and found from the food truck. Food took a while but was good. Gave us more time to visit. Then about 7 everyone headed their different directions home.

It was a lovely day. I will post a few pictures from my phone in another post.

Thought I'd make a separate post to respond to what I remember.

I dont even think there are lift things here to help with patients. Wouldnt those be hanging over the bedside?
The hospital must have them. Hoyer lifts or stand up lifts are separate devices that are rolled between patient rooms to use.

I hate technology, but it's here to stay, isn't it?
I feel that way too. Sometimes it is great but other times I could just scream.

@Pea-n-Me they actually said warm compresses would be better than ice,
Hmm, I would have said ice also, especially if there is swelling.

Has anyone had issue with their pages “jumping” while reading a thread.
Yep, it can be very annoying.

I think it's when the add changes, and the new one is longer or shorter than the old one.
I agree.

My head is spinning from a LONG conversation with Old Navy customer service. Dad and I have $20 in Super Cash. We thought that would make a $50 order $30. It doesn't! :P So frustrating and deceptive. The $20 discount is spread out over EVERY item in our cart--we have 7. That does add up to $20. Bottom line is that the total is basically $20 more than we thought it would (should) be. Grr. As an FYI, I always thought you could combine Super Cash, you can't! Only one Super Cash promo per order (or I'd guess per in store transaction). Why can't businesses make promotions straight forward?!

So thankful, albeit super slowly, at last, at long last, many prayers, today will finally be the day your DH, Lynn is moved to rehab!

So grateful too, PollyannaMom, that your son is home. Prayers for his continued recovery indeed.

Wow that sounds like a fun (action-packed though) trip, Carol, I'm so glad :)

:grouphug:❤ to all.

Well finally,,and an hour after I had to leave,,he just called me to say they are moving him to the rehab floor now. At least he got to have his dinner first, lol. I am guessing they aren't going to be doing any PT on that arm tonite,,so maybe tomorrow. I had taken most of his stuff down and set everything up in his room..and how ironic, he's in exactly the same room he was in 5 years ago after the cardiac pacemaker debacle. We are in the middle of a strong line of thunderstorms..just hoping we don't lose power,,it's still very muggy out and 77 degrees, after being 93 about 1 1/2 hours ago.

Sister in law stopped at Subway and I treated them to subs for dinner..the least I could do (besides giving her gas money) for driving me back and forth. They also stopped at the farmers market this morning and got me 2 ears of really nice looking corn, a big tomato, and a big yellow squash.

Off to eat and relax,,and wait for him to call me and tell me he's settled. At least I know he will be well looked after on that floor, the nurse at the desk even recognized me, and said she was so glad they were able to get him there for rehab. I really have to find Toni on Monday and thank her for all she did.

@Breezy_Carol..sounds like a really nice trip,,glad you had such a good time!

@PollyannaMom, still sending prayers for your son. Hope his recover continues

@flyingdumbo127--sorry you had issues with Old Navy Mona, sometimes places are just not easy to deal with, and have all these 'restrictions' on gift cards and discounts that you don't expect to run into!

Have a nice evening all!

My ex sister in law (who is really more of a sister to me always), just sent me new pics of 'baby Mateo' and big Sister Ali..they are getting so big..I had to laugh at Mateo's picture,,his hair looks goofy, but his face looks just like his Mommy's!

PollyannaMom, continued prayers for your son.

Lynn, good to hear the good news, continued prayers for you both.

Carol, enjoyed your pictures! I love going to that museum.

I had my day all planned out. I set my alarm for 8:00 am so that I wouldn't sleep too late, was going to eat breakfast and then go out and vacuum out my car before it got too hot. Woke up about 7:30 am and checked my phone. My friend, Ginger, had text me. She and her DH had left for Georgetown, about four hours away, yesterday and didn't realize until about midnight that they had forgotten all of their medicine. She asked if I would go over to her house, collect their medicine and FedEx it to them. After a shower, I drove over and got their medicine and took it to the FedEx store who said that the earliest they could get it to them was 8:00 am Monday morning. After a lot of phone calls back and forth I finally got their medicine mailed.

When I got home, I saw that my sister had called. Her daughter was having to put her cat down this morning and wanted to know if she could bury it in our back yard. We sort of have a pet cemetery in the back part of our property. Of course we said yes.

After my niece left, it was too hot to mess with my car and I hadn't had breakfast yet so I had a late brunch. Then I did changed the sheets on my bed and thought I would sit and read awhile since my plans were screwed for the day. I ended up sleeping for over four hours and could have slept more. And, of course, I was not in the best of moods which always happens when I take a nap.

Dinner was spaghetti and a salad. My attitude finally took a turn for the better and I watched a couple more episodes of Longmire before checking in with you and heading to bed.

Ya'll have a good night!

Good morning all
@Kirby, I hope today goes better for you!

It was after 7 last night when they finally moved him, after 9 when he said they had finished going over his paperwork, asking 1000 questions, prodding and poking and marking black and blues, sore spots, arm , leg, etc,,and it was almost 11 by the time the nurse did night meds for everyone on the floor. I hope they let the patients sleep in this morning instead of waking them around 6 like they do during the week. He is tired! It was after midnite by the time I could get my brain turned off enough to try to sleep, and 2 of the cats were standing on the bed meowing at me at 4:10, so I feel drained and tired too. Am going to lay down for another couple of hours. This is one time where I am glad they don't let anyone in the hospital till 10!

After a couple of storms during the night, we have a cool down. Might be bearable outside if it only gets to 82 like they say. And thankfully I did all the yardwork on Friday, and the rain took care of watering, so I might be able to do nothing when I get home this afternoon!

Have a great morning, enjoy your Sunday!

Good morning everyone.

Not much going on here today. Church and laundry and to some extent at the same time. I haven't owned a washer and dryer in about 15 years. I did my laundry at my daughters which is actually where my washer and dryer were. She needed them having just moved into an apartment and I had bought them but decided she needed them more. Since I didn't get paid for watching the kids and I was there all day 4 days a week that was my "pay". I did my laundry there. Now I go to a laundromat that is actually on my way to church. It costs me $6 a week for my regular laundry and $6 a month when I do all the bedding. But I am done in an hour.

My plan is to throw everything into wash, pick up LJ and his mother and head to church. After I'll take them home and head back to switch everything to the dryer. It's going to be cooler today, only in the low 80's so I can deal with that.

We had those storms come through last night too and they were LOUD. I could actually smell the ozone burning. Some of the lightning strikes were so close they actually lit up my bedroom. I made sure the flashlights all had batteries in them so I was prepared just in case. I also remembered to shut the skylight this time so it didn't rain in the bathroom. Unfortunately I left the vent windows in my car open so it may be a bit damp in the very back of the van. Oh well with the heat we have had it dries quickly.

QOTD - I thought about that and growing up Christmas was at our house. My dad refused to get a tree until Christmas Eve so he could get it for practically nothing. My mom NEVER let us help decorate the tree and decorations were never allowed to go up before Advent.

When I had my own family I did keep the Advent rule, I still do. But we had a family tradition I started. We saw Santa Claus, went out to dinner and then got our tree. Quite a few times it was then drop off my husband and 2 of my kids at home while I took my daughter to the ER. She would get really sick out of nowhere and wind up in the hospital on IV's. Eventually we found out she had chronic appendicitis but it was odd that it always occurred at this time of year. Christmas Eve service was the normal until my kids got older and now it is spent with my husbands family. It is nice to have that connection for the kids and the grandkids and since my husband has no other family left it is important for him. I used to go to my mom's house Christmas Day, she insisted, but I really liked a small dinner for just my family and did that for several years til my dad asked me to come to their house again. I would do anything to make my dad happy. My kids all stay home and I am happy they do that. Growing up they hated that we were forced to go to my mom's. I travel to their houses late morning and drop off their gifts. I am really hoping this year we can get back with the family on Christmas Eve. Of course I am in charge of desserts and they have requested the bakery I stopped at a couple years ago. I was not feeling well and had no energy. It will cost a bit more money wise but will be so much easier time wise.

Hope everyone has a good day.
