Has anyone stayed at the Quality Suites Maingate East recently? I'll be there in March & when I called the hotel to clear up some questions I asked them about their WDW park transportation. Their guest services told me that they only take guest to Magic Kingdom (I'm guessing actually Ticket & Transportation) not to the other parks. Is this true? I found it weird because they do pick up at all 4 parks. If you used the hotel transportation, please share your experience with it. I tried to find out where they are in the hotel pick-up order (since the bus company does pickup at multiple hotels) but guest services claimed not to know this (I came very close to suggesting he get on the bus one day and find out where it really goes).

As much as I'd like to use something other than the hotel transportation, this is a Girl Scout trip & we're already over our origanal budget (only by $25 -- but still I needed to keep it in line).

Although I'm specifically interested in the transportation issue, if you have any other hints/suggestions about this hotel I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

It sounds as though you are herding a bunch of Girl Scouts on this trip. Congratulations to you for your efforts.

My guess, and it is a guess, is that you are going to have a problem trying to get straight information from the motel. We have not used the shuttle service, but I understand that they are on a pick up route with many other motels located on route 192.

It does you no good to know that the Lynx public bus transportation system drops off a block from the motel. If you have lots of kids and are on a budget, then that doesn't help you, but they do go to the Ticket and Transportation Center at the Magic Kingdom.

The motel is well located in relationship to the Maingate entrance to WDW. It is in Old Town. Do you know the details about Old Town?

My only suggestion is to keep trying with the motel staff to find out what the shuttle does. Sorry.

I stayed there this past June. That is correct the buses only take you to Magic Kingdom and then you are to use Disney Buses. They do pick up at every park. Any more questions, feel free to ask.

I stayed there for 14 days in August last summer. And I tell you that the bus system was the worst of our trip. Our first park day, it started out very hot that day and we were rushing to get to the bus pick up spot at the scheduled time (there was 13 of us-3 adults, 4 babies and the rest kids ages 4-11) . We get there and of course there are a lot of other people there but they had a Universal bus and a WDW bus so everyone wasn't waiting for the same bus. This day we were going to Universal. We get there in time to get the 9:30A.M. shuittle. But 10A.M. I went into the lobby to let them know the bus was 30 mins late already. They called someone then told me the bus should be pulling up in 5 minutes. Well 15 min. later, I go back in and tell them again, the bus is not here and it is hot and we are wasting time sitting here. She calls again and then tells me he should be pulling up. Well he comes about 5 minutes later and anounces he can only take 5 people and that there is a bus right behind him. It was now 10:30A.M.. We decided to wait and by 11A.M. went back upstair and called it a rest day and rearranged our scedule. We did that because by the time we waited for the bus and actually got in the park it would be somewhere around noon and there was only 1 pick up from universal, at 7p.m. So we'd get in the park and by 6p.m have to start heading back out. Next morning, Same thing just we decided to try for the 8:30A.M. bus. Once again, over an hour late and to top it off, THE DRIVER WAS HIGH ON HEROIN. He was scratching and nodding off. I ran back into the hotel as if something was on fire and told the shuttle people who put me on the phone with the shuttle Co. themselves. They told me the guy wasn't high and that we'd be okay. Well I got her name and said a few choice words to her that if this bus crashed I'd be seeing her and it won't be to shake her hand either. Well this was the worst experience ever. The guy was swirving in and out of lines barely missing cars, running lights, NODDING OFF AND SLEEPING THROUGH LIGHTS. The adults were screaming at him to keep him from nodding and the kids were crying and hugging one another. He turned off to go around a bin getting off the highway and we can see the ditch on my right (I was on the right hand side of the bus and he was turning off the highway to the right) Well he was verring (sp) off to the right too much causing everyone on my side of the bus to scream because we were way over the yellow line towards the ditch. One lady was on her cell phone talking to the head office about his driving and screaming to him if we crash and she lives she's gonna **** his *** because she has kids on the bus. We get there without an accident (I strongly believe that was due to the 2 little girls talking to God the whole ride in the seat behind me). That was that day. As for our disney days, those buses were late too and 2 buses would pull up and one driver would say he only had enough spare seats for a stupid amount of people like 10, when there are 50-60 peolpe standing there. So this guy "screams that bus over there is disney too", causing a mad rush with peoples kids in danger because people are now dashing to the other bus, just to find out that was a universal bus and then the 1st bus pulls off. After 3 days of this, I rearranged my budget and got us on the city bus for the remander of the trip. I don't think QS is anywhere near the top of there pick up schedule as you can tell. Sorry, I liked to hotel, HATED the shuttle. To tell you the ending of our Universal driver thing, e-mail me. Some things happened and I wrote it here in my trip report but they took it off because of what happened.:earseek: :duck: :crazy2: :faint: :scared1:
