For those of you that believe that the food quality of these is no better than that at a Shoney's or Golden Corral - shame on you.

Last week we ate at Crystal Palace, Cape May, and Tusker House. I actually thought the food quality at all of these was better than what I had at the Paris casino breakfast buffet in Vegas a few years ago (although the selection wasn't quite as extensive). Of course, in every instance, we were seated at the restaurant opening when everything was relatively fresh (so that may have led to us having an above-average experience).

The only area I thought the food was weak (even for a buffet) was the fruit. For some reason, buffet-style places always serve bitter tasting melon fruit (e.g., cantaluope, honeydew, etc.) and the Disney buffets were certainly no exception. In addition, the strawberries were relatively tasteless. The pineapple was, at least, decent.

On the other hand, almost all of the breads and pastries were fresh and delicious. The egg dishes were almost always well above-average for a buffet (especially when they included ham and cheese). And who can say anything bad about a Mickey waffle?
