I did a search and couldn't find anything specific. I'm having trouble finding a hotel close to the entrance gate with availability all nights I'll be in Anaheim. I've found one or two but they're around $150+ per night and I definitely want to go cheaper. This motel states it's within walking distance and the rate is under $75 per night.

Trip advisor reviews are mostly favorable. I'll be traveling alone so most any hotel room will be large enough.

Anybody stayed here? Is it really within walking distance? Thanks

Hey! How are you doing? Hope your mom & cousin had fun on the WDW ladies trip.

I'm going toward the end of May and will be there for the Pirates premiere. I'd appreciate your feedback and hope you have a fun trip.

I think I'll go ahead and book it so it doesn't disappear. I can always cancel if I change my mind.

:yay:

Ok, I ended up NOT staying at the Quality Inn! Sorry!!

I changed my ressie a couple of days before I left to the Best Western Park Place - I really wanted to stay there, but the rates were too high for me (traveling alone), but when I checked the Friday before I left, I got a cheaper rate!! (maybe last minute rate??)

I have to say, I'm glad I changed it because the walk was significantly less. My feet were killing me after each night.

Hey there!
I went to DL with my sister in January (1rst to 5th) and LOVED the hotel! Keeping in mind that we are both students we were looking for a realistic budget to do our trip on. We were so happy with what we got. The room was clean and the cleaning staff was always on top of it. As far as walking distance... it is exactly 6 to 7 minute walk! They are not lying, it is way closer than anything else in its price range. It's actually right beside the Howard Jonson, Mimi's Cafe, and McDonalds. There is also breakfast, nothing too wrong with it but don't get too excited! lol. All in all, no complaints and would absolutly go back! Right price and right location! Have Fun!!!:yay:

Huh. I never noticed that was back there, or rather that you could access Harbor Blvd. via that hotel.

Here's the map: http://www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap.html

Quality I&S is behind Camelot Inn. So it looks like it is within walking distance.

Oooh -- downside. Bret gave it a bad review, and from what I know of his other reviews, he's not picky at allllll. I'd check up on tripadvisor and see how Quality Inn & Suites is fairing these days.

Woah, make that really really really bad review. Bug and Roach City. Filthy.

Thanks everyone for your input. I've checked out tripadvisor and it gets mixed reviews but I think most are average to favorable in the later months. There was mention of an renovation in April/May last year. Unfortunately I couldn't find a date on Bret's review. He did keep referring to it as the Penny Sleeper Inn which was the name prior to the current affiliation. I suspect his stay was prior to the renovation. One of the main complaints from some of the reviewers is the size of the room. Since I'll be alone it isn't an issue. I got a rate under $60 so I may just give it a shot. I'll just make sure I pack my cleaning wipes! :)

I'm finding little in the way of vacancies during my trip and what I am finding is more than I want to spend. I need a place within walking distance. I don't want to depend on a shuttle. I'll research some backups in case it's too bad. I can always call a cab. I'm fairly easy going and my expectations will not be really high. I do want clean. Worn & dated I can deal with.

Since I'm traveling for three or four weeks I need to keep this side trip on a really tight budget. If I can't keep my entire budget within the $ I've saved I'll have to start cutting back and I think I'd rather keep the marginal motel. I've promised myself I will not use credit for this trip.

Good for you Carolyn! (about the credit card bit - I just went to DL solo and paid for everything with cash - no credit :goodvibes The Ladies trip last fall, though, that's another story  ) I'm sure the Quality Inn is fine. The reason I switched is because at the last min, the place I wanted, their rates dropped.
Actually, if you look at a satellite map of the Quality Inn, you'll see, it's about as far from the park as It's a Small World is from the maingate. So, obviously it's walkable.

p.s. you going on the ladies trip again this year?

OK not to be the one to say I WOULDNT But we had a friend go there last fall and they were NOT happy. WE sent them there!:rolleyes1 ..
We stayed there a long time ago. This was what they told me
1. Renovations were not done even though they were told they were.
2. they purchased candles to have in the room because of the smell
3. Bathroom door was not closing even after a few attempts to get it fixed
When we were there we were able to walk accross the parking lot of the hotel in front of it(which is right accross the street from DL. Now there is a fence and you have to walk around.)
OK now. They said the staff was great & very friendly. The breakfast area was very awkward and so the LINE moved very slow.
Now with that said... Remember it is only what they told me... BUt they are just average folks who don't complain much so take it for what its worth...
We had booked there but changed reservations because of the fact that we had to walk around the whole block ...(as they put it).
So again just what I was told..

I guess I'd better pack some candles since I don't want to cancel my entire DL trip! :)

Thanks everybody. I want my trip to be a success so hopefully it all works out. I'll just have to keep some alternatives handy. I can probably find something cheaper farther out but since I'm traveling alone I want to be relatively near.

jedi - I've used credit cards in the past to fund vacations but I made myself stop. For the last 3 or 4 years I've saved for my entertainment or I don't go. I'm not real sure about attending the fall ladies trip. I don't know if I'll have enough saved after this extended trip. I'm going to have a little cushion built in for emergencies, like changing hotels :rotfl: . If I have money left and it doesn't disappear in the Vegas slot machines, I might give it some thought. I'd like to go to the food & wine festival again.
