Has anyone stayed here? What's it like? How long would it take to drive to Disney?

Stayed there for 1 night many years ago, didn't like it at all.

Budget accomodation at best, there was a gang of lads outside our room most of the evening - may be harsh but didn't feel comfortable at all there.

Also don't particularly like the location, southern end of I drive is ok though.

15/20 minutes to Disney?

Haven't stayed there in a long time Claire - Gary and I stayed there on our first trip back in September 04. It was clean but definitely in the 'budget' category. As far as driving to Disney, I would imagine it's probably about 20 minutes' drive.

In my opinion, there are nicer hotels on I-Drive - have you considered the Homewood Suites by Hilton?

Which quality inn we have stayed in two the Quality Inn Plaza liked a lot or the Quality Inn International which we didnt rate very much

I've said this in another thread, Quality Inn Plaza (the one across from Pointe Orlando) is a great hotel. O.k, its basic, theres no "Disney Magic" there, but great service and you're paying for the great location:

- Pointe Orlando across the road
- In the centre of Disney/Universal
- On Int Drive which has everything you could want
- The 24 hour shop, which seems such a small novelty but after a lonnngg day at the World and you need a sit down with a coffee and a donut or whatever it was often the best part of the day just sitting and chatting about the day over coffee.

The best part of it (in my opinion) was if you get a good view you can see Tower or terror and fireworks from your balcony. Which always gave me chills when I got there! :)

I'm just getting nostalgic now *** its 2 months til my next trip haha

hope this helps :)

Quality Inn Plaza-i have'nt stayed in.

Quality Inn-i have although it was way back in 2003,our first room was'nt up to much-so we moved and that room was fine.It is cheap, basic+clean, fancy hotels that cost an awful lot of money don't interest me,(although we have gone up in the ranks for next months holiday  ).
I felt safe to stay there, had no problems+there was security checking the cars coming in+out the hotel 24hrs.
As you can see from my siggy i like I-Drive+have always stayed there, although Quality Inn is'nt as south as i would prefer to stay now.As Joh said there are nicer hotels around, but if the price was right-i may stay again.

The room had either a king size or 2 queen beds,fridge,microwave,coffee maker,free shuttles to UNI/IOA/Seaworld.WDW would probably be 20-30mins drive away.2 pools,fitness room,restaurant,games room,bar.x.

we stay at the quality inn international every time now - its a great location you are vdery close to the new wal mart, you can walk there. You are right at the interstate therefore it takes only bout 15 minutes to get to disney - you ca walk to universal in about 20 minutes or 5 minutes i the car. It is a basic hotel, but the staff are fantastic and the rooms are clean. The restaurant isnt great but with chillis/denny/perkins etc at the door you dont need to eat there!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. Its not for us it's for DF parents for the Wedding trip. I will pass on your comments.

Stayed at the plaza on our first trip (many moons ago!) we were just so thrilled at being there that they could have made us sleep in a box and we would have been happy!! Like someone else has said - central location on i-drive, loads to do at night but once you go on-site you wouldn't go back...fond, fond memories though:thumbsup2

we stayed at quality inn international, known locally as the Hi-Q
we were there in 2005 and thought it was nice. i'd read 'horror stories' on the disboards, so was worried at first, but that turned out to be unfounded.
we had a room around the back nr the back entrance, and it was very quiet.
we found the buffet to be very good.
there is a dennys next door, and the worlds largest macdonalds (i couldn't believe some of the stuff they had on the menu - beats uk branches hands down). there is also a crazy golf couse next door.
we actually requested to go back there last yr, but the travel agent didn't have the availablity on the dates we wanted.

We've stayed in both altho some years back now! - known locally as the lo and hi Q. Both are fine - would prefer hi Q. Lo Q was uneventful for us, but lots complaining of rooms being broken into for new trainers etc..that we all have to buy. Location is good at both as in middle for pretty much everything

We went in 1998. I think its still pretty much the same from then though

The rooms are sparse and simple, you get basic cable TV and the beds were fine as I recall.

The buffet I was fond of (mind I was 9 at the time lol!) Breakfast was a nice selection and the soups were always very nice.

It's a fine hotel and certainly the best budget option. But you can get much better service outside the parks if your willing to splash out a little more (me and my family are in love with the villas in Kissimee, so much space and a nice home away from home)

Hey Claire :goodvibes

We stayed at the Quality Inn International in 2007 and had no problems. We've stayed there in the past too.

The first room we were allocated wasn't too good so we asked for another and we had a room in the 3000 building. These rooms had been recently refurbished (ie lick of paint) and they were much better. The staff were great about moving us and helped us with our luggage, and they called us a little while to make sure we liked the room.

We had a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the gardens and pool. The floors higher in the building were really humid so we were glad we had a lower floor.

It is really convenient for everything and it took us around 20 minutes to Disney. We went down I-Drive to the end, turned right onto the 536 and then straight into Disney. It may have been quicker to go on the I-4 but we like driving that route. Coming back from Disney I-Drive could get really busy but it didn't bother us as we quite liked it!

We would stay here again if we were on I-Drive. There may be other places in the price range that are better, but we love the location and know what it's going to be like.
