I'm re-painting and refurnishing a bed and bath and need opinions as to who has great/quality towels and rugs. My rugs I last bought from Sears and Target were good but not the ones from WalMart (I guess you get what you pay for :confused3 ).

I feel like a notorious "thread killer" so please someone reply.

Thanks!

I like the Laura Ashley towels from Kohl's. They are nice and think and soft but not too pricey - especially if you catch them on sale!

Good luck with your re-deco project! :goodvibes

The best towels I've ever bought are Grand Patrician, 100% Egyptian cotton. In fact it's all I will ever buy again. They last forever, hold up well. They are a nice generous size, and get softer and softer with use. Look for them on sale at BB&B or Penney's.

We have four sets that have been in constant use since they were purchased in 1996, and they are just beginning to show some minimal signs of wear.

They cost about 30% more than other brands, but because they last at least twice as long, they are really worth it.

We have been really happy with our Lands End towels-- I am not sure which line- -but we did buy them at Sears. They have lasted over three years and are used ALL the time.

I also have good luck with Polo towels (you can find them at Marshalls) and Charter Club at Macys too.

good luck!

I'll chime in with some fellow Minnesotan advice. Three years ago I bought some of the "Big One" towel sets from Kohls. They held up so well for my boys to take daily for swimming and the beach all summer long at the YMCA that they are now the only ones I buy. They are very generously sized. If you wait you can find them on sale fairly frequently at least half off. Watch for bonus buy days, sometimes I'll stop in on Fridays to see if they are on bonus buy sale. :goodvibes

One word of caution though. A friend bought hers in cobalt type blue and the color has faded pretty quickly. Our towels are burgandy, navy blue, and tan or tan with multicolred strips. Our navy blue towels have shown some color fading over the years, but it is not that bad. :laundy:

Although I see someone reccomends Lands end Towels, and I really like the quality of their stuff. Might be a good idea to check out their inlet stores.

Do you have trouble with your towels bunching up on the ends? All of my Big One towels are doing it and I don't know why.

I like the Ralph Lauren towels that can be bought at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. They have held up really good. I have Nautica ones also from TJ Maxx that have held up well. My Grand Patrician ones have really faded and no longer feel soft. I wouldn't spend the money on those again. I had Grand Patrician rugs that haven't held up either. The rubber backing has always ripped way before the 3 years that they guarantee. Bed Bath and Beyond has been great about replacing them but after doing that twice it has gotten old! Good Luck on the redo!

Ralph Lauren have held up well for us. Sometimes on sale for $7;.99 Macy's.

I like most anything from Bed Bath & Beyond. I get coupons in the mail and even though they have an expiration date, they never expire. I've bought great quality rugs, towels and accessories at prices lower than WalMart. They also let you use as many coupons as you want at one time. I save them every time one comes in the mail and then I always have some when I need something for my home.

Haven't had an issue with my towels bunching. I usually wash in cold water very infrequently warm. Dry in dryer on moderate heat setting. Hmmm... :confused3

I just brought some Macy's on our last trip they are super soft they are part of their Hotel Range.

And also I picked up a bargain from Dillards Ralph Lauren Avenue towels reduced from $22 to $4!!!.....I wish I brought some more....

I will have t second the LA towels. I got them on sale, plus an additional 30% off (last time we got a peel off). They are my favorite towels.

I love my Kohl's towels. I'm not sure what specific brand, but they are nice and thick and have held up well.

Do you have a Burlington Coat Factory in your area? They have really nice towels and bed linens. Really great prices also.:goodvibes

Two years ago, I bought all new Fieldcrest towels from Target. I was amazed that they were thick and soft (felt like high dollar department store). The color has held up well. My gold ones have not faded at all, the burgundy have not either, except for slight fading on one hand towel.

Thanks for all your replies:

I've never had cheap or expensive towels "bunch up". Maybe we're easy on towels?

I went shopping yesterday for all my new bed and breakfast room stuff. I went from blue-berry blues to carmels and blacks. Hard to decide on colors that won't date real quick. I ended up buying towels at JCPenney from their studio collection. Really nice black with beige and carmel colored boarder stripes. THey seemed really sturdy. My last batch of towels were from Kohls and they were great (still are) and they are fieldcrest brand. I looked yesterday and the only black ones they had (one brand to choose from) weren't anything great and neither were the rugs. I ended up coming home with no rugs. Sears had a sturdy kind in their Tye Pennington collection but none in black or carmel. I'm going to shop on line for these and see if Sears has any more color options. They were with the thick thread loops. I found an inexpensive black shower liner at Menards of all places. I also didn't find a black table cloth or little black end tables. With gas prices I'll be shopping on line for the rest of my stuff until the room is done.

The bedroom is painted and almost done refurnishing. Next is paint the bath, tile the bath, new toilet for bath and then new carpet in bedroom. No vacations for me this year , I spent all my extra money on this project. But I'm excited to start cleaning up after Bed and Breakfast guests with my carmel/black colors and not blues!! :)

If you have any other ideas or good deals please continue to share. I really appreciate all your opinions. Thanks again!!

Own and operate it. I've been doing it for 14 years! It's good pocket (vacation :thumbsup2 ) money but not a living. I for the most part love meeting people and most of the work gets done when they are gone. I serve breakfast on the dinette set in their room. We live downstairs, the B and B room are upstairs and they have their own entry way. I only have 2 units. But I also have 2 other part-time jobs so I'm never LOOKING for work. Know what I mean? Are you starting your very own B and B? I have a friend who has been doing it for about 5 years and she has been ready to quit for a long time now. She says the average life expectancy of an Inn keeper is about 4 years. :confused3 I was burnt out about 2 years ago. Can't remember what happened I was just sick of people in my house. But I got over it. You have to be extremely flexable, needless to say. :laundy: :stir: :coffee: It's alot of cooking and cleaning. :) Yep, I've seen it all!
