Hey, everyone! I was accepted a few weeks ago for QSFB SA 2012 and I had a few general questions (for any past CPs, parents, or anyone who knows, really) and a few role-specific questions.

1. Okay, so, I've seen a lot of different answers for this one - does the car have to be in MY name or can it be in my parents name? Same for the insurance. The Onboarding site says you have to have proof of ownership and insurance, but goes no farther than that.

2. What is the phone number to call the offices? A friend of mine interviewed, as well, and had a question regarding her application, so that's for her.

3. What does QSFB consist of? I know the little kiosks, but someone mentioned something about indoor QSFB. Is this true or were they mistaking it for FSFB?

4. What types of food will I be working with? Not that I mind, it's just a question of curiosity.

5. Where are all of the locations? I know in all four of the parks, but is there QSFB in the waterparks and/or resorts?

6. I know this differs from location to location, but what am I looking at as far as costumes are concerned? Pants/shorts? Blouse/polo? Skirt? Shirts tucked in? It's a wide question, I know, but if you've worked QSFB, I'd like to hear where you worked and what your costume was.

7. Will I be eligible to pick up PAC shifts? I'm indifferent towards it, but have experience in crowd control, so I figured it would be wise to know if I had the option.

8. I've found a few girls online and we're going to TRY to room together in a Patterson 3-BR wellness. Pros and cons of Patterson?

9. Are QSFB CPs more likely to open or close? Or, if it differs by park, where would I be most likely to open and where to close? Or is it pretty much even for both? I've heard CPs typically close, but I've also heard that QSFB doesn't stay open as long as the parks do. Unfortunately, I never paid that much attention during any of my visits to Disney.

10. This isn't to get my hopes up, but I'm merely curious: what's the best location to work QSFB? Or park?

11. If I'm hoping to get into a certain park, can I call and let them know my preference to heighten my chances a bit?

A lot of questions, but any answers are appreciated!

Ok, let me see what I can tackle for you....

1. As long as you have the same last name and address as your parents on your insurance you should be fine

2. I'm not sure about a number but you can always email wdw.college.recruiting@disney.com

3. There are 2 areas of QSFB, ODV (Outdoor Vending) and QSR (Quick Service Restaurants). ODV will be any of the kiosks around the parks and QSR will be any counter service location.

4. It can really vary what types of foods you'll be working with, to get a general idea I would look at the menus of various QSRs and ODV stands online

5. QSFB can be anywhere from parks, to resorts, to water parks, so you can be placed almost anywhere on property.

6. I work QSR and we're required to wear pants because we're back in the kitchen, if you're ODV you have a choice of wearing shorts during the warmer months. At larger QSRs there are people who are trained to work only front of house, some of those costumes may be skirts since they're not required to be in the kitchen but don't quote me on that.

7. Anyone can pick up a PAC shift, no specific training is needed

8. I live in Patterson and love it, it's very nice but security is very tight here. A lot of things your get in trouble for here you might be able to get away with say if you lived at vista.

9. CP stands for closing person  you're more likely to close compared to the full timers

10. The locations is really what you make of it. I prefer working at a restaurant location because I've really gotten to know the people I'm working with which has made all the difference in this experience.

11. If you're hoping for a certain location send an email to recruiting and they will try and do what they can for you but there are not guarantees they can place you where you want

Hope this helps!

The Onboarding site says you have to have proof of ownership and insurance, but goes no farther than that.

first, I should mention my program was almost 10 years ago, so i know things have changed. however my last name was different from my parents because my mom remarried. So my name did not match the registration on the car (registered in my mom's name). But my name was on the insurance. Since my address on the license matched the address on the car registration, i remember no issue. On the plus side, because i wound up staying in FL after my internship, since my car was in my mom's name back in Maryland, I was not required by FL to get FL tags on the car. That saved me some money (I had to get a FL drivers license for my full time job at Disney).

3. What does QSFB consist of? I know the little kiosks, but someone mentioned something about indoor QSFB. Is this true or were they mistaking it for FSFB?

In QS i did a little of everything. In the AM at the time we were a full service character breakfast. I would show guests to their table. For lunch we were QS, i would normally work the cash register taking orders, fill orders behind the counter (placing food on trays, filling drinks) i would work a toppings bar and keep it stocked and clean, i would work in the kitchen cutting up goods for the toppings bar.

6. I know this differs from location to location, but what am I looking at as far as costumes are concerned? Pants/shorts? Blouse/polo? Skirt? Shirts tucked in? It's a wide question, I know, but if you've worked QSFB, I'd like to hear where you worked and what your costume was.

When i worked QS, i worked at Restaurantosaurus. My costume was a blue shirt and skirt with pink stripes. It looked sort of like a candy striper uniform. Only thing that sucked was they expected us to wear heavy boots (theme of the restaurant is that paleontology students are working at a diner). Heavy boots and panty hose do NOT work. I tried, but got the worse blisters. I tried all sorts of things (moleskin, newskin, padding), but we were not allowed to wear socks. In the end, i wore black rebox. I would get in trouble for it, but nothing really ever happened. During colder months, we could wear a white turtle neck under the costume. Comfortable shoes are a must. get insoles if you need them, you are on your feet the whole day. Personally i can walk all day, but standing kills my feet.

In both of my college programs (qs and parking lot) i worked mostly in the morning. Both times were at Animal Kingdom which probably had something to do with the early hours. Most of my roommates worked at Magic Kingdome and they always worked late shifts. Basically we never saw each other because i was sleep by the time they got home. I think i would normally start a shift around 6am in the restaurant. since we served a character breakfast, we had a premeal meeting which was nice. In the morning we would stock cups and prepare the space to serve breakfast. Then we would walk to the main gate and escort guests to the restaurant since the park was not open yet. DAK in the morning was so pretty, like a village coming to life. Often there was mist in the air, and the park was empty. You could hear animals calling in the morning. One morning i got there early, around 5 am, and instead of the normal ambient park music, loud rock music was playing. Just before i got in the gates, they switched it to the ambient park music.

10. This isn't to get my hopes up, but I'm merely curious: what's the best location to work QSFB? Or park? I have heard some folks say (my sister being one of them) that the water park QS locations are fun because the hours are short. The parks do not open too early in the morning, and they are not normally open too late. Generally they close around 5pm. That gives you plenty of time to either try picking up a shift at a late park (often MK during peak times) or to just have fun. I fell in the category of : Arrive to work, sign up for an ER (early release). Once ERed, i would change clothes and then go play in the parks! Generally I could get an ER after the lunch rush in the QS and after the morning rush in the parking lot.

A lot of questions, but any answers are appreciated!

You are going to have tons of fun. Just remember to work hard and not screw up. Keep yourself healthy. Eat lots of healthy food, take your vitamins, get good sleep, and wash your hands ALL THE TIME. Everyone with colds comes to visit you. If you are working QS you are in high contact with sick people breathing on you while they order their food, hand you dirty money etc. I was sick A LOT. I think i always had a cold. Get a flu shot (they did not have that when i worked there).

Oh on a side note... Since you dont have to "pay" for the AC in your apartment, most roommates crank it. I was always cold. I got a really nice blanket (heavy fleece plaid) from Mexico in Epcot. Use your disney discount once you get your ID Badge. It is a great souvenir that has a good use on your bed if you are apt to get cold. i also recommend an egg crate mattress topper and your own sheets/pillow.

Thanks! Both of your answers were very helpful!

I can't wait to just get down there and get started! My Dad was trying to get me to get a flu shot, too, but I'm still debating. I personally don't believe in taking medicine for something I'm not sick for, but I would hate to get the flu while I'm there and get into trouble. Decisions, decisions.

I also got accepted for QSFB Spring 2012! I'm excited! Does anyone have suggestions of good/bad quick service places to work? I might request a location if anyone knows a great one.

Hi! I was accepted to qsfb for the dcp..in my interview she did not lead me to believe at all that i was in this position but that's fine whatever. For people who have done this in the past, is it possible to get stuck just working like frying food and what not everyday for the 4 months? I understand you can hop around to different positions which is fine but is there a chance to get like placed doing one thing the whole time? I'd rather bounce around than just be like cooking food in the back the whole time

My interviewer did the same thing! But, don't get me wrong - I'm happy to do anything at Disney! She asked me if I had ever worked a register and if I had ever worked in food - my answer to both being no - and here I am. I honestly wonder what logic they use to place people in roles considering I went for attractions because I have experience with it, but who knows? :confused3

You'll do different things throughout the day. Sometimes you could be doing in the kitchen, other times you could be out in the dining room bussing/trash or on the counter, etc. Usually though if you're on register, that's what you do all day or for the majority of your shift.

I am in QSFB right now at MK. The first few weeks I hated it... I still have bad days. BUT! I love my job now. We have so many CPs at my work place and it makes it so much fun. I really do love (most) of the people that I work with. Yes, I have seen the sun rise a few mornings due to closing.... But the pay is nice.

If you get QSFB and in the Magic Kingdom than you will make more than most CPs. If you did amazing on your interview than you may get placed at MK.

Also QSFB has so many people it is EASY to give shifts away. I am scheduled 5 days a week but most I work 3-4. Never 5! I am a full time student online.

Also... at my location we are asked if we would like to be trained for the kitchen or register.

I'm kind of the same. I really hated my job at first but now, even though I'm still not crazy about it, I enjoy it more but that's mostly because I love almost everyone I work with, especially the other CPs. There are some full timers who don't give me (or the other CPs really) the time of day or act like we're incompetent but for the most part, everyone is incredibly nice.

It's so weird how they do training. I was trained right away in the kitchen and on register (and so were a few others) but there's one CP who just got trained on register a couple of weeks ago who got here September 7th and one still hasn't been trained.

3. i worked indoors at the wide world of sports, concessions stands basically at sporting events

4. we had hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches and fries, chips, peanuts, candy, soda, and frozen lemonades

5. yes, there's qsfb everywhere! lol

6. wide world of sports - http://i51.tinypic.com/10r8qad.jpg, we could wear either shorts or pants, our shirt had to be tucked in with a belt and we had to wear a sports team hat(and if it was pro baseball, it had to be the atl braves, unless it was college)

9. when i was deployed to epcot, i remember one shift that i worked 4pm to 2am, and i was doing the kiosks, popcorn/ice cream etc in future world, but it was also extra magic hours. i had a difference of shifts at wws, either 7a-330a or 4p-12a, one of those days got extra long with me coming in at 11a and not leaving until around midnight lmao

10. i disliked working at the mk, mgm, and epcot LOL i never managed to pick up any shifts at the ak. i worked at both water parks and from my findings, i enjoyed working at the least populated places. my home spot, wws, got pretty busy during cheerleading season but those were 3 days max each week, not 7 haha

I forgot about WWS! I wouldn't mind working there at all! Honestly, I hope I get put somewhere either with a decent hat or that's indoors because I'm deathly allergic to sunscreen and I don't wanna fry, seeing as I've got that nice pale Irish skin. ^_^ I requested an indoor or hat/long sleeve location, so fingers crossed!
