I am currently debating whether I will want to add the QSDP or just go all OOP for my trip in May. If I choose to add it, do I have to add the QSDP to my reservation before my 45 day window closes or can I also add it when I check in without a fee?

I kind of want to wait until we get there to decide to be honest.

All package changes have to be made (and paid for) at least 3 days in advance of your check-in. Changes made within the last 7 days before your check-in will incur a small change fee, above and beyond the normal package change fess (the latter are usually waived if you're upgrading a package).

Edit: as noted below, it's 14 days, not 7, that incurs a "last minute" change fee

So I don't have to make a decision by the 45 day mark then? No fees until the 7 day mark.

That seems to be standard practice but the policy does say 45. So it can't be for sure. If you are thinking about it I'd change my package (room/tickets) to room only. Then you will only owe one nights payment as deposit. Then you can change/cancell it up to 7 days without penalty. If you decide not to add ticket option then tickets can easily be bought at the parks or through another vendor. (This of course will not work if you are using the kids stay free package..... since it has to be a package w/ tickets.)

Disney usually charges a $15 fee to make ANY changes to a package within two weeks of arrival. So if you are looking for the fee-free cutoff to make changes, it's probably 14 days, not 7. Faldred says one week, but everything I have seen says two weeks.

If you added a dining plan within 45 days, you would not incur any extra fees as you are paying more for your package. But you would be within the paid in full date, so you'd need to pay for the dining plan at the time you add it.

As mentioned, you cannot add any dining plan at check-in.

Good to know. I'll try to remember this the next time the question comes up.
