I am quite certain this has been asked before, so please accept my apologies. I didn't see any recent posts on it so felt the need to ask again!

I may be taking a newbie family to WDW around late February, or possibly later (depending on code). I know FD is happening during the time we plan to be there. We are on a tight budget and are still deciding whether to do WDW or DL. Our plan would be to stay at the Pop, which of course would mean QSDP vs. DDP.

I've done both regular and deluxe before, but really never had a desire for the quick. For 7 days, with people ranging in age from 16-senior citizen, would you do this plan? The family is extremely laid back, which is a plus in this direction. I just wonder if it would get real old, real fast. Thoughts?

There is actually a nice variety of CS restaurants, so it doesn't have to get old. Love the Epcot list and the DTD list. Great BBQ at AK. Several good resort.

I think if they are truly laid back you won't have a bad time doing this. :)

You could also upgrade to the regular one too. I think I read some where it is $11 a day per adult. So that isn't to bad if you wanted more variety.

We did the regular dining last time. I think we are leaning towards the QS this time, because we did find so many places last time that wasn't horrible. The QS in France is amazing! The QS in Mexico was great too.

The BBQ in AK was awesome! We also loved a few places in MK, lots to choose from. Then the place in HS that has the huge sandwiches you can split with two or three people! (Sorry can't remember the name of that place, but the sandwiches were huge along with the desert!)

Jasperann...

I think the HS place you are thinking of might be Starring Rolls Cafe. Very delicious!

We did the Quick Service Dining Plan in January and will be doing it again this January (unfortunately we don't get free dining because we are going MLK week during a blackout time).

There is a lot of variety for adults (the kids have less variety). As other posters have said -- Epcot has a TON of variety that is very good throughout World Showcase and Downtown Disney has a few good choices, one big one being Wolfgang Puck Express.

Then if you stay at POP, they have one of the best food courts of all in my opinion. Lots of variety there. I think it is a great option and definitely the better option for large groups that are more laid back. The scheduling required for the regular dining plan is just hard with a lot of people and with people that don't like to be on a schedule.

Since your QSDP is free, you could add in one or two TS buffets to get a change of pace and taste. Look at the dining ticker above and check out the menus and prices.

I think doing one or two TS will give everyone some variety and it would be cheaper than upgrading to the DDP as you don't need to add in all the tips. Plus you don't have to have much of a plan with only one or two ADR's. Everyone gets the refillable mug still and a nice sit down meal or two.

We did the quick service plan last summer for 5 nights/ 6 days and we loved it. We loved being able to come and go without having to worry about ADRs. We loved having 2 snack credits and the mug! There are A LOT of CS options in WDW. Since we were park hopping we started our first day with no plan! We went out to the bus stop and jumped on the first bus that came along! We felt like the QSDP gave us freedom!! We had everything from burgers to asian food and everything in between! We booked free regular dining for next august...but for our december 2011 trip we are once again going to get QSDP!

Oh yes!! Starring Rolls Cafe!! The CS meal there is a little hidden gem in WDW! I had the huge black forrest ham sandwich, with chips and a HUGE butterfinger cupcake..and a bottle of water! YUUUUUUMMMMMYYYY!

We did the QSDP this past January for 8 nights and we loved it! Towards the end of the trip, we were a little tired of the "fast food experience," but I think we were just getting tired of eating out in general. I'm sure we would have felt that way about all of the TS restaurants if we had done the regular dining plan, too. It was really nice to eat when we wanted to and not have to worry about ADRs. We definitely had enough food and enough variety and I would definitely pick the QS plan again!

You could up grade the plan something we have looked at doing, but if not I think you could easily do QS and not get bored. And the portions are huge (at least the ones that we had..we easily split entrees on more than one occasion)

Just back from Disney using QS and loved it. There is more than enough choices and more than enough food. I was traveling with DH (type 1 diabetic so timing of food is important), DD, 19 (average eater), and DS, 17 (6'4" 220lbs...need I say more). The QS gave us great flexibility. My DD and I shared nachos in Mexico and then a plate in Morocco. We didn't have to be together or at a certain place at a certain time because of ADRs. We were there during a very busy week and there were many people outside of restaurants complaining about waiting. This would probably be less of an issue as the kids head back to school and the parks thin out. It was my 11th time to Disney and first not eating at any table service restaurants and I didn't miss it.
