QSDP cost question, increase or seasonal charge???

I have a few questions:

First off we have rented DVC points and are checking in on Sun 3/6 at OKW. We have the QSDP booked before the Oct. change, so we'll pay at check-in. I read on the dining plan sticky that the price is $34.99/adults and $11.99/child. Is this the total price including tax, or should we expect to pay tax at check-in. Just trying to budget.

We are driving in, and arriving the afternoon of Sat 3/5. I have decided to use my AP discount to book 1 night at POR. I would also like to add the QSDP for 1 night. The room only price is $138.94, with the QSDP for 3 adults and 2 kids it comes to $273.64 which would make the QSDP portion $134.70. By my calculations 1 night QSDP should be $128.95. I know it's only a $5.75 difference, I'm just trying to figure out where I calculated wrong.

Last, Since we have 2 separate reservations, each with the QSDP, am I going to end up with a total of 10 resort mugs, 1 mug for each reservation per person? I really don't think I need that many mugs. Just wondering.

Thanks!

Good questions, I'm sure someone on here can answer you! I would think that you would end up with 10 mugs, I hope your thirsty!!

Yes, you will! We have done split stays in the past with the QSDP on different segments and we did indeed, get another set of mugs.

This summer, we are doing QSDP for night 1 and DxDDp for night 2 so will once again, end up with double mugs. However, my DD is bring her friend with her and she is going to use her extra mug as a gift for her brother.

I may be doing the same thing with ours as well.

Good idea to use the extra mugs as a gift. I sure hope they have a new design by the time we get there. We have loads of the Celebrate design from past trips.

Since I have to pay for the QSDP when we check-in at OKW on March 6th, I'm trying to figure out exactly how much it will be. Please let me know if my calculations are correct.

3 adults/2 kids, 5 nights, QSDP
34.99 x 3 adults=104.97
11.99 x 2 kids=23.98
Total per day $128.95

128.95 x 5 nights=$644.75

I'm expecting to pay $644.75 at check-in, but I'm getting nervous that this is not correct. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Even if there is an upcharge on your room only night you will not have that upcharge on a DVC reservation. My guess is your calculations are correct and you should be fine.
Disney Quick Service Dining Plan Pricing:

•$34.99 per night, per Guest ages 10+
•$11.99 per night, per Guest ages 3-9

Thanks so much! I just like to be prepared.

I had the same thing happen to me.

We are staying at POP on March 10 to March 12 and then transfering to BLT.

We wanted the quick service March 10 to March 12. I was thinking 34.99/night and was charged 39.00/night.

I called reservations back and told them that I thought I was over charged and they told me it was a "seasonal" increase.

I posted a thread about it and got a few replies and one of the observations that was made was that most of the resturants that have seasonal increase if you are paying out of pocket are table service resturants. The counter service prices do not change so I dont understand why I am paying for a seasonal increase on my room only reservation.

I am going to call Disney reservations one more time and ask again.

You can't get a dining plan on a room only reservation. Not sure whether you were attempting to switch it to a package or not.

It also has nothing to do with restaurant price changes. The seasonal increase for the basic dining plan applies no matter which restaurants you use the plan for, although the only restaurants with seasonal OOP increases are fixed price restaurants. This is really the only time I have ever heard anything about a seasonal increase for the quick service plan.

I thought an AP holder could get the dining plan on a room only reservation? Didn't the OP mention s/he had an AP?

Yes. I am an AP holder.

And when I called back to the reservations office because I thought I had been overcharged for my dining plan, I was told it was a "seasonal increase" and the price was correct

Even if you are an AP holder, it is a package. It's just a ticketless package. Once you add a dining plan it is no longer a room only reservation, the rules are different. You have to pay in full by 45 days out and the cancellation and change fees that go with packages apply. On a room only reservation you can pay the balance at check-in and no cancellation penalties apply up to 6 days before arrival.

This is still the only example I have ever seen of a seasonal increase for the quick service plan. Is the check-in date during the seasonal increase dates for the basic plan?

Sparkie is checking in 3/10 and seasonal pricing starts 3/11.

OP here. We are AP holders and booked a 1 night room plus QSDP package check-in 3/5, and paid in full at the time of booking. The way my pricing came out it was a total of $5.75 more than I expected for 3 adults & 2 kids on the QSDP, so no big deal. I was just wondering because I usually calculate before I book, and the amounts usually match up. Also, the $5.75 doesn't seem to reflect a seasonal amount either. :confused3

I was also curious because we are checking into OKW on points and need to pay for the QSDP upon check-in. So I was wondering if the plan would be the $34.99/11.99 per person/per night that I'm planning for, or if it will be more. From what I understand we should be okay on check-in with those numbers, and not with the increased amount (checking in OKW on 3/6).

Thanks for all the input! :)

If you're a DVC member on a DVC reservation, according to the DVC Members website, the quick service dining plan costs $34.99 per night per adult and $11.99 per night per child. Period. No seasonal increases. On the package reservation are you sure that amount isn't for tax on the package?

Sparkie is still the only person I have ever seen discuss a seasonal increase for the quick service plan. And the check-in is outside the dates for the seasonal increase on the basic plan. Something is wrong with what Sparkie is being told by Disney, although it looks like it's from multiple sources.

Thank you. Tax was my first thought, but I had thought the Dining Plan cost included tax. I guess not since it's a package. At this point it's more about solving the mystery of $5.75.
When we check-in at OKW it will be $34.99/11.99 with no additional tax, correct?

Wasn't talking about tax on the food...the tax on the food is included in the dining plan. I was talking about tax that might be assessed on the package itself.

There should be no extra assessment for the dining plan on a DVC reservation based on past experiences (not mine, I never get the dining plan). Things appear to be changing rather quickly and without notice though.

Oh, okay. I gotcha. Thanks. To me it's just puzzling because the AP room only rate was $138.94 incl tax, the total AP room plus QSDP rate was $273.64. The difference in the two should be the cost of the dining plan, which was $134.70, but should have been $128.95. :confused3

I'm starting to think you are very wise in avoiding the Dining Plan. :)

So what do you think I should do?

I am on a AP "ticketless" package with quick service dining from 3/10 to 3/12. I have already paid in full for the room and the dining. Pop Century Standard room.

Should I give it one more call?

It couldn't hurt, I'd call and ask them to give you a line by line of the cost. It may seem silly to them, but it is your money and you should know what you are spending it on!
