Qs re WBC checkin procedures

1...YES its worth it. I always make requests, and I have been fortunate to have them honored. I prefer building 5 with a lazy river view. I honestly believe when you are a guest of an owner the resort will go above and beyond. Especially if the owner is a top tier points VIP. Anyway, make your request as early as possible. When you land at 8am, I would call them and make the request over the phone.

8....Yes you can grab a swim and stay on the property for a few hours. Near the fitness room there is a bathroom/locker room. It has full showers inside and plenty of locker storage.

I get the parking pass.
I go to the desk alone. They are not allowed to sell to a married person unless their spouse is present. I say I am having a "Girl's trip" with my sister. They say thanks and give me the pass. I never get one phone call while I'm there. The parking pass people do not have access to the "Guest list" they have no way of knowing that my spouse is actually there the whole time.

Priceless thanks lol

You don't even have to go to the parking desk. Just skip it. Your room key gets you through the gates, not a piece of paper. You don't need the paper on your car.

Yes, but they will call your room. My way, saying my spouse is not with me, they cross my name right off the list. I never get a call.

My advise:

1. Unplug your phone as soon as you enter your unit.
2. Give them a fake cell number.

I have read comments on other forums reporting that salesmen in some resorts actually come and knock on the door and disturb you if you don't answer their call. Be as rude to them as you possibly can without guilt, because consider how rude it is of them to actually invade your room while you are on vacation to try to coerce you into buying something you don't want. It was NOT at WBC that I read about this happening, and the most recent report I read was that they had shown up at 8:07 AM and it wasn't a pleasant experience for the sales employee.

Regarding the "$20 sandwich," I understand this works in Mexico, but in nearly all check-ins at WBC, you are checked in and your room assigned before they send you to do the Parking Pass Tango. Even if that isn't the case, the front desk and sales staff are literally employed by different companies, the former being the resort and the latter being the developer. The salesmen have no influence on the front desk staff, and I'm not sure the FD staff even like the salesmen--consider that sales is the source of most complaints regarding timeshare resorts, and FD has to take the brunt of the complaints from angry guests.

Great questions! I've learnt a lot from the answers... Now to figure out which building/view to request!

I have always requested Building 5 or 6. I have always been given building 5 with a view of the lazy river. I don't understand why anyone would want a view of the parking lot.... but to each his own. Pool views for buildings 5, 6 and main building have a great view of fireworks at night. In fact, we often see the fireworks while being in the main pool at night. I have NEVER been disappointed at any resort when my balcony overlooks a pool. I don't seem to hear the noise from people in the pool when I shut my balcony door and turn on my TV. It's pretty nice to sit out on the balcony early in the morning with a cup of coffee and watch the staff get the pool ready for the day. The sound of running water and fountains with the nice Florida air is so relaxing. I can't wait !!!!!

Alternatively to the pool view. I had this amazing perspective from my room in building 5. At night it was all lit up. Spectacular.

Unplug the phone

I just turn the ringer volume to the OFF position. At the parking desk I tell them I did not come on vacation to sit thru a timeshare presentation. When they ask if you need park tickets tell them a member of your party is employed by an affiliate of Disney so they get the tickets for peanuts. They will not utter another word to you except "Thank you" as they hand over the parking hang-tag.

I wouldn't mind this view either !!! Do you recall the floor you were on? I would like to keep this in mind in case a poolview is not available. Last time we checked in at noon and a poolview room wasn't available until almost 3pm. But I didnt mind waiting since I was getting what I wanted. Building 5 on 5th floor, poolview. We had an electrical problem in the room and they moved us to the 13th floor. AMAZING !!!!

15th floor of tower 5 we were able to see epcot, mk, and hs fireworks from the balcony. unreal
