QS kiosks being removed????

Just found out that the kiosks at the Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary have been removed. What is the reasoning behind this? Are they losing money somehow?? Are the kiosks breaking down a lot? We have never had a problem with them.

Just curious if anyone knows.....
 
I don't know the reason but just commented on the other board that 3 weeks ago when I was there, it was a 3 ring circus. You were handed a menu and the CASHIER was the one you ordered from. So while guests are waiting to pay for items they 'grabbed and go', others are asking questions and ordering, totally confused. No one knew what to do and it was not a pleasant .

Even though convenient staying at BLT, I will never go back to Contempo.

I can't speak to the real reason why, but every time we have used them, we've had a problem. Whether it was the kiosk was not working properly, we couldn't find something or customize it, something ended up missing, etc. It was time consuming and frustrating. From a guest experience perspective, perhaps Disney is recognizing the same. I am guessing it's more efficient to get the line moving faster without the kiosks.
 
I may be in the minority, but I liked the kiosk because it allowed you to easily customize you order. I always feel like I have to get the already prepared version when I order from a cashier, and I am a person that does not like "spreads" of any kind on my sandwich. I want to put on my own mayo!

It took me until this post to figure out that you guys were talking about the ORDERING kiosks that were being eliminated. Cant say I'm surprised- it seems that so many people don't have a clue how to use them that they almost require a full time CM just to help guests use them.
 
I'm guessing from the posts that there were "ordering" kiosks that folks had trouble using. You can tell from my tag name where I live - WaWa nation! Best touch screen ordering system ever. (Along with coffee, hoagies, subs...and just today the Gobbler is back!)
 
I assumed we were talking about the ordering kiosks since OP mentioned Contempo Cafe. What other ones are there? Either way, anything that's self service always seems to slow things up. Especially at Disney where there are so many walks of life and people with "vacation brains". If Disney is looking to move more people through the queue and prevent people from walking away if there's a back up, it might behoove them to pay for more bodies taking orders and eliminate the kiosks. Just speculation on my part though, I don't know the real reason.

I bet you that's EXACTLY why!!! Many times we saw people asking for help. I hope they plan on putting more CM's onto the registers!! Oh boy!!! I'll be there next month and will let you know my experience!! As long as people don't walk up to the register until they know WHAT they want, it'll all be good haha!! Hubby is already dreading this new system lol!! :furious:
 
I preferred them and never had a problem. Also liked that my food was being prepared while I got the bakery/take n go stuff and paid. They need a seperate ordering and paying section, or at least keep one register open for non orders. It was a backed up mess at breakfast most of them time.
