We have the QS plan for the family. Kids are 5 and 7. In your experience, will this provide us with enough food for a week? I am wondering if I should pack a box of granola bars and juice boxes, or even do an order a grocery delivery service. Is that necessary, or do you find that you end up with extra snack credits at the end of your trip?
Thanks!

Generally speaking, yes, you will have plenty of food.

For breakfast, use your mug for a drink and then use a snack credit for a baked good, fruit, or yogurt.

Each counter service lunch or dinner meal comes with a drink, entree, and dessert.

Each person will then have one more snack for later in the day. There are not "kid snacks" so the snacks are relatively large for a child. In addition, the kids can share snacks.

For breakfast each has a mug of hot coacoa and one gets a fruit bowl while the other gets a huge muffin. They split each and have a nice breakfast.

If you are at the magic kingdom stop off at Sleepy Hollow and get a funnel cake and slush. These are huge, and by splitting they get a food snack and drink in the afternoon.

That only works if they can share together, but the plan also works well between adults or an adult and child.

At Epcot, head to the bakery in France and get a quiche, Napoleon and two waters. Amazing snack or small meal for only two snack credits.

Keep in mind that if you use a meal credit for breakfast, you can just use your mug for the drink and use the "drink credit" to get a drink with a screw top lid to enjoy later in the heat of the day.

When on the QS dining plan, many spots have pre-made plastic wrapped desserts. They are not nearly as tasty as fresher produced items. Sunshine seasons, Columbia harbor house, tangerine cafe, STARRING ROLLS, the bakeries, and the resort QS tend to have better selections than many others. As a general rule, when looking at menus, if you see chocolate cake, carrot cake, and sugar free brownie listed together, they are plastic sealed.

On our last trip I did toss in a box of poptarts, granola bars, etc in the suitcase for quick grab-and-go breakfasts. The food court was HEAVILY congested in the morning and we just wanted to grab something and get in the bus line. We could grab a granola bar and stop for drinks in our refillable mug and we would eat waiting for the bus. Saved a ton of time. Let us sleep in a little later than if we had to get food at the food court.

We were on the basic dining plan--2 adults, 1 "disney adult" and 1 child. We ended up with about 4 cs credits left on the last day (traded them for snacks at the food court) and at least 20 snack credits. We split many cs meals and still had more food than we needed. I imagine we'd be in the same boat if we did the QS plan.

Our family of four (DSs 6 and 10 at the time) did the QSDP last time. We didn't take any extra food, and we still had snack credits to use up on our last day. Now we didn't have beaucoups of credits, but I know we had 8-10, because all of us got our own pastry and a drink at Main St. Bakery that day.

With our 10 yr old, that means we had 3 adult meals to work with, but I think you'll still be okay.

Yes, you will have enough food, but I always bring, like mentioned, a box of granola bars or some sort of breakfast type bar with us. We used the snack credits to get muffins and/or bagels for breakfast but sometimes, one of those bars just did the trick.

And, we too, had snack credits left at the end and brought home fudge for my older two who didn't come.

DH & I discovered most of the time we would have been happier splitting a CS lunch or dinner. The sizes are large! I had a hard time believing when people kept saying there would be more than enough food.

The adult CS meals are definitely split able at most places (in my eyes at least)...one person can order water or use a snack credit to get a drink.

The adult CS are definitely large enough to split with a child...so you could always have the kids meals as more snacks to fill in

Here is a scenario:

2 breakfast platters adult at the resort and use your mugs for drinks (take the two drinks to go into the parks)

Then share 1 adult QS lunch, 2 qs kids meals, use 2 snack credits to supplement extra drink, extra fries, etc.

then everyone can have a snack

Then 1 adult QS dinner, 2 QS kids meals, use 2 snack credits to supplement extra drink, extra fries, etc.

I think that would be enough food...and you have spent nothing OOP and brought noting with you

Another scenario (as stated by PP):
Breakfast at resort-use mugs for drinks...everyone gets something for a snack credit

Lunch-2 adult, 2 kids meals

Everyone gets a snack

Dinner 2 adult, 2 kids meals

Coming from a teenage guy, and speaking for the other 7 members of our party, we were never hungry on the QSDP! We had plenty of snacks left over at the end too. Check out my dining review linked in my signature! :thumbsup2

YOu may be fine for food amounts, but depending on your kids, you may want some favs on hand. In my suitcase I packed granola bars, a box of dry cereal, COFFEE for ME and DH w/ disposable cups, fruit snacks, a loaf of cinnamon bread and PB. This was just in case the kids were picky or needed something NOW.

I also pack some things when on the DDP. I like doing cereal in the room when we are going to the parks. We do CS on our non-park days.

I pack little snacks for us (mostly my niece) raisons, fruit snacks, granola bars, applesauce in a pouch, etc. If she decides she is hungry while in line or while she is in the stroller she can have it. Saves me searching for food and then waiting in line with a hungry child.

We often share CS meals-waffle, 1/2 chicken meal, pizza.

We always have a lot of snack credits left over and I rarely pay OOP for food/drinks (refill mug and souvinier popcorn bucket).

I always bring a few things with us whether we are on the plan or not. My dd3 is very picky so I bring things she is familiar with...pop tarts, granola bars, gummies and fruit cups. I also pack dh Dunkin Donuts coffee...he has to have it right when he gets up and cant wait to get it after getting dressed and walking to the food court. Plus that coffee is...well...not that great- according to him :)
You will have lots of food on the plan, though. And if you split a CS meal, dont use a snack credit for an extra drink. You can get a large with the meal (and it is LARGE) and they will give you smaller cups for free and you can just pour the drink into the smaller cups and share. Thats what we have done before.
