Hi -
Going on the Western in 20 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wa Hoo!!!! :Pinkbounc

We decided not to book any excursions and do the islands on our own. In Cozumel, we'll probably spend the day at Chankanaab National Park (I've read that there's a great lagoon for small kids to swim in - true?)

My question is mainly about food - Are there good places to eat inside the park? (And are they pretty clean????)
What choices did they have, and what is the price range?

Thanks for all of your help and suggestions!
Kristen

We went to Chankanaab in June 2002 (RCL Navigator) Kids did the dolphin discovery there. We ate at one of the open air bars in the park and while I don't remember the exact prices, it seems to me it was reasonable and clean. They took dollars also. Had I known the beaches and sand were so nice we would have plan to arrive earlier and taken advantage of the park prior to going to Dolphin Discovery (which is in the park).

they actually have a really good open air bar/restaurant adjacent to the snorkle area...

By the way, Chankanaab has really great snorkeling...

We have been there twice, and both times the food was excellent. My son is a very picky eater, and I was thrilled that they had cheeseburgers and fries on the menu at one of the open air bars on the beach. I had the best conch salad appetizer ever there. The portion was so large that I ate it for lunch. Keep in mind that it is open air and there is an ocassional bug flying around, but still clean. The snorkeling and small pool are excellent. I also enjoy standing on the docks and watching the dolphin shows, very entertaining. After a day in the sun, we like to walk over to Sallys Mini Golf in town also. They have the best sangria!

I have booked the Sea Lion Discovery at Chankanaab for Megan and I, Jim is going out to Tulum. Hopefully we can hook up for awhile during the excursion. See you in 20 days! Still no DOCS

p.s. my dolphin adventure isnt until 3pm, but I was considering going out to Paradise Beach in the morning and to Chankanaab in the afternoon. I wonder if that is too much in one day :)

We had a great day there. Did the Dolphin excursion, then beached it the rest of the afternoon. Kids 8, 6, 3 had a great time on the beach and the protected little lagoon. You can order food and drinks right there on the beach.
